    Was Doyle a better horror writer then he himself knew?

    After reading "the beetle colector" and "the secret enemy",I have to say one thing-did anyone else get impresions from reading Doyle that fortold of truly horrid things ahead only to be disregarded trivialy ? Ive actualy writen stories inspired by both.
