I got 2 books secondhand to try, "Banner of souls" and "Empire of bones". Are they any good? Is she a good writer?

I didnt see a thread for this author when i searched. I know some here have read her and like her. But which works ? Her SF or her fantasy ?

I managed to pick up a copy of The Poison Master from a 2nd hand shop :) I've come across this author's name when search for other info, but not read any of her books. Anyone read The Poison Master or any of her other stand alone books?
