"Shadow of the Giant" by Orson Scott Card

Probably the first question that has to be asked when considering Orson Scott Card’s “Shadow of the Giant” is, does the world really need another entry in the Ender/Bean saga? After all, the previous volume, “The Shadow Puppets”, while advancing the story, had seemed a bit mechanical. It was as...

    Shadow of the Giant

So Shadow of the Giant came out yesterday. I didn't know this until about a month ago. I'm excited for it since I'm a Card nut. I doubt I'll be able to read it for a while, unfortunately, due to the ever increasing amount of schoolwork I seem to get. Anyone else get his/her copy yet?

A most peculiar take on Ender's Game

The Internet Review of Science Fiction (www.irosf.com) is shaping up to be an interesting critical journal. However, some articles puzzle me. Specifically, the latest issue contains an article by one Dotar Sojat called 'The Fuzzy Courage at the Heart of A Geek' which essentially dismisses...

    Other OSC books?

I mentioned in another thread about the Ender Wiggins series being continually revisited - but I'm curious - what about OSC's other works? How about the "Tales of Alvin Maker" series? The "Homecoming" series? How about some of his standalone novels?

Ender: too much of a good thing?

I didn't enjoy Ender's Game, but I was glad I read it (you'll know why if you've read it :) ). However, there are a number of "sequels" to the novel. From what I hear of the other novels, though, they continue certain arcs and threadlines raised in the original story. My predicament is a...

    Orson Scott Card's Treasure Box

Novelization of "The Abyss" (Orson Scott Card)

Novelization of "The Abyss" Did anyone ever read this? It was one of those books that I re-read time and again. Rather than being written after or duing production of the movie it was related to, like most novelizations, Orson Scott Card was heavily involved in the script development. I...

US Army to make Ender's Game a reality (Orson Scott Card)

US Army to make Ender's Game a reality. Slashdot reported that the US Army is to release two Army simulation games as a recruitment tool, and makes the comparison to the Hugo and Nebula award-winning SF novel 'Ender's Game' by Scott Orson Card. The story centers on children who are trained by...

Ender's Game--The Movie (Orson Scott Card)

Ender's Game--The Movie Well, folks, it looks like we might be finally getting an Ender movie. Yippee! I guess OSC's pretty pleased with the script and the production folks and it might be out as soon a 2005 (sounds awfully far away, doesn't it:( ) If I understand correctly, they will be...

What do you think? (Orson Scott Card)

What do you think? I just started reading OSC's work recently but I'm already very impressed with his writing and need someone to talk about his books with. Has anybody else read any? There has got to be somebody. I've read a few of his shorts and I started the Enders series. I especially...
