Have you read him. Specifically his Secret History series? I'm just about finished with The Man with the Golden Torc and I have to say that I've enjoyed it. Quite a lot of imagination went into it and it's been a fun read which I find nowadays one of the most important things.

For those fantasy readers who are tired of all the heavy-handed angst that's so prevalent today and want a story line that actually goes somewhere. Give Simon Green's Hawk & Fisher stories a try. And for humor try Blue Moon Rising. Also, in this vein, David Gemmel's Drenai saga.
