Unfortunately, I cannot put in the URL for the Lansing, MI online obituary for David Feintuch as this is my first posting.

One of our list members posted part of an obit in the group:

David Feintuch Mason, MI David Feintuch, antiques dealer and award-winning author died in his Mason, Michigan home last Thursday. He was 61. His death, which came after a long history of cardiac troubles, was announced by his family. Mr. Feintuch lived in Mason, Michigan, where he owned and actively managed the Mason Antiques District. He was also a prolific science fiction author with an international following. In 1996 he won the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer for his novel Midshipman's Hope. The series, called the Seafort Saga, has a total of seven novels in addition to one as-yet unpublished novel. He also authored two fantasy novels, The Still and The King. The former was credited as "the best fantasy of the year" by Science Fiction Chronicle. Born in New York, New York in 1944 to the children of Russian immigrants, David moved with his family to Yonkers, New York and attended Fieldston School. After earning a bachelor's degree from Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana, Mr. Feintuch continued his education at Harvard Law School, graduating in 1970. David then moved to Michigan, working as an attorney until he retired from the legal profession in 1979 and followed his passion into antiques. Mr. Feintuch was an inveterate traveler throughout his whole life and was known to his friends for the stories he would bring home with him. He was also a photographer, ragtime piano player, and expert on early 20th century music. David is survived by his children, Devon, Jeanette, Emili, Mark, Jeff and his wife Leianne; his four grandchildren, Domanic, Tharyn, Anna, and Jeremiah; and a brother, Joel; as well as his parrot, Tolliver. Funeral services will be held at Noon on Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Home, 621 S. Jefferson St. in Mason. The family will receive friends at the Chapel on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Those desiring may make contributions to the Angel House in Mason in memory of Mr. Feintuch.
