Down Under a non-fiction version of The Last Continent

Hi everyone.
Am I the only one who thinks that Down Under by Bill Bryson is a non-fiction version of The Last Continent? Not in a plagiaristic way but having a similar feel to the book.
 
Yes. Yes, he does.

I don't know. I read both books, and I never picked up the similarities. Besides the obvious. Maybe the fact that they are both about Australia, and that they are both written by beardos with ever so slightly off-beat senses of humour, lends them a similar feel. But I for one would be hugely surprised if TP was on BB's bedside table. Just not the sort, I don't think.
