Hey all.
I'm new to this board and i'm posting because i'm trying to get the name of an obscure science fiction story that I came across about 4 years ago. The author and title escape me, though i remember some basic elements of the story. I was really hoping someone here might be able to help.

It's a very short story as i remember, about a reporter from earth who is living on Mars. Martians are very much like earth people in this story except for one thing. Nothing on mars has a smell except for right before someone is going to die. then the sweet, ghastly, haunting beautiful smell of... Lillies, i think it was, permeates that person and everything around them.

It was a beautiful story and I would love to get ahold of it. if anyone knows abotu it i'd appreciate it a lot!

thank you so much.

This is M. E. Kerr's “Sweet Perfume of Goodbye” from 1987. It was published in Visions and a collection of her work: Title: The Sweet Perfume of Good-bye

Here’s a description: “The Sweet Perfume of Goodbye" is also a beautiful tale and has a science fiction theme to it. Here a teen is doing research on another planet: the only smell on the planet is a unique, exotic odor released from a body when it is approaching death. What an incredible, haunting theme, and of course allows for plenty of reflection in the typical YA manner.”
