The Returner & Zatoichi

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the awesome story line and special effects of The Returner. One of the cooler asian films I've seen.

Has anyone seen Zatoichi: The Blind Swordsman? Also very cool, with an interesting artisitc flavor. I wonder if all the Zatoichi films are like that.

I thought Zatoichi was absolutely superb. One of Takeshi's best.

Zatoichi is a classic Japanese character seen in many films, but this particular one is directed by Takeshi Kitano.

The Returner, also japanese, is a sci-fi flick ususally compared to Matrix
or Terminator. It's directed by Takashi Yamazaki, and stars Takeshi Kaneshiro. You can find it on the imdb website under Ritana(japanese title)

I really liked both movies. The Returner is one of the more 'family friendly' Japanese action films I've seen. Although it does have violence, it manages to avoid the sexual perversions shown in many of the Japanese sci-fi and action films I've viewed.
