Hi there guys. I'm a 19 year old student from York.
I recently was trying to recall some of the books I read many years ago, and I'd like to see if anyone can remember the titles that I've forgotten, based on the scanty plot details I remember.
I guess I'm not hoping for much, just because I remember very little. I'm posting at this forum becuase I think the books I'm trying to remember fall broadly into the catagory of young science fiction.

1. Probably the one I remember the most of. It opened with the lead character being thrown into a gladiator's ring. The evil character was called 'One' (I think) and I seem to remember this character being composed of 8 people who spoke in unison. And rather oddly, a very indelible image from this book is that of the lead character killing someone by punching them through their temple.

I'll add some more later.
Thanks!

Haha, wow. This bizarrely came into my head again and I thought I'd bump just in case :)

It sounds like the S. M. Stirling book which was first released as The Sharpest Edge, then much later, and with some additions, released as Saber & Shadow. He wrote it with Shirley Meier. The lead characters were two women Shkai'ra & Megan. It was part of the Fifth Millenium series. There was a god king involved who seemed to be made up of multiple personalities.

It also made me think of the Robert Adams Horseclan series, but it's been so long since I read them, I don't remember a lot. Check out here and see if any of those covers look familiar.

How about one of the Dumerest books by E. C. Tubb.

Dumerest spends a lot of time in hand to hand combat gladiatorial style.

Either way they are a fantastic series of books (personal opinion of course)
