I just found your site after years of wondering if there was anyone out there as addicted to these books as me, and finally I have gotten to read what other's think about some of the millions of question's I have about these books. I don’t even know if you still talk here or if anyone has asked this but in AFFC toward the end Jamie talks to Tom o Sevens or some outlaw. Do you think they are slowly invading Riverrun and might hold him captive or deliver him to un-cat to die??

I think Jaime is too heavily guarded (he's commander of an army remember!) to get captured by a bunch of bandits.
I'm pretty sure he's learned his lesson from the Whispering Wood.

I think Eamon Frey (the new Lord of Riverun) has more cause for concern... :)

Welcome to the forums, Arya!

In a agreement with winters sorrow and welcome to the forums Arya.

Besides, what fun would that be. Now, if Brienne was forced to kill Jaime that would be interesting (although tragic as Jaime is one of my favs). I think Jaime's time in the Riverlands is at an end as he can't wait to get out of there. Maybe he'll go after the Blackfish. Maybe he'll go defend Cersei. But I think he is taking his commitment to the Kingsguard faily seriously and knows he needs to protect Tommen from the jackals and the incompetents like the Kettleblacks.

Welcome Arya.

I echo WS and g2.

I also agree that Jaime is headed to not only to protect Tommen, but possibly take up leading Tommen's education and the structure of Tommen's court. But isolated from his own house, Jaime's power and security will depend upon Tommen's life... if Tommen goes down, Jaime goes down with him.

and again shows the close ties between lanisters or father and son if you like that verson better. i highly doubt he is going to save Cercei only because he is sick of being treated like dirt and the fact he knows the truth of her ways. and jamie is trying to redeem himself so now he is taking his oaths seriously

As for Tom: no. The BwB are not numerous enough to achieve that, plus Jaime is likely not staying put at Riverrun. The Freys and some of the other longer-term residents may be in trouble though...

I do think Tom O Sevens is going to clip the Frey though. What was the deal with Edmure not wanting him to play for him? That puzzled me a little bit.

Edmure lost a womans affections when he was younger to a minstrel, since then he hasn't cared much for em, thats all.

I remember that. Cat thought it when Marrillion said how much Edmure enjoyed his singing. I think that was to show Marrillion's nature, but if GRRM bothered to remember it it might be more important than that... I have no idea how, but this is GRRM we're talking about.

It's because Tom is THE singer that bedded the woman Edmure wanted. I found something else interesting, in aSoS, Tom complains that Lysa sent him on the highroad going to the Vale and he arrived with just his skin intact at the Bloody Gate. Wonder why Lysa would send him anywhere and when it was.
