was it ever made clear what happend to this child other than hints he was not to be spoken about in one of the movies and an inportance to the future in the series they just never seemed to pick that story up?????

Hi Alice,

The kids name was David if I recall. I seem to remember him being spoken about in one or two of the very lasts episodes and (if I recall correctly) in the movie "In the Beginning".

I don't think it was explained properly, but one of the themes of Babylon 5 was the cyclic nature of civilisations, people and the universe in general. Maybe David was going to be another important leader in the future. Maybe in the fight against the Drakh.

Blimey, it's been a while since I've seen B5. A bit rusty! Best have another watch soon I think!

Dammit (in my best Sheridan voice) I miss B5!

I think that the reason they had a child was to give a sence of happy ending and a purpose in their life, other than politics. besides how can you care enough to save the galaxy when you have noone to save it for?

Hmm, I thought I'd already posted a response on this - oh well, obviously not!

As SteveR said above, Delenn & Sheridan's son was David.

Not a great deal is know about him post B5 as most of the series is concerned with 'current events' with mere glimpses of the future.

From what I remember though, there were serious hints dropped that he became a Ranger and was given a 'Keeper' by Londo (whom himself was enslaved by one) which caused him to commit unspeakable acts and eventually he gained control of himself long enough to either kill himself or heroically sacrifice himself in some other way.

p.s. is it just me or does anyone else wind up feeling sorry for the Centauri?
The last we see of them is a devastated world reduced to pretty much the Stone Age by an attack from the Drakh and as G'Kar himself says at one point "They are a dying people, we should pity them!"

Not sure I ever felt sorry for the Centauri as a people due to their arrogance and adverserial culture (bit like humans really!). But I think I felt sorry for Londo - his loyalty to his people and his belief he was always doing the right thing was an excellent piece os story telling - acted and played out superbly between G'Kar and Londo.

The whole Cantauri fall from power plotline over the seasons was definitely one of the shows highlights.

Londo was their at the beginning, and he was their at the end. His actions, howeve well intentioned were doomed to fail because of who the Centauri are. This is what I think G'Kar means.

Also wondered if the Centauri are supposed to represent a possible human future? Dunno :)

According to JMS on Lurker's Guide, Londo tries to put a keeper on David. THen in the flash forward where Sheridan and Delenn are captured by Londo, Delenn says "Our son is safe." As in, Delenn and Sheridan rescued him from the keeper at age 16. JMS provided an outline and Peter David wrote a great Centauri Prime trilogy that covers this, if you want more of a story. And yes, David became a ranger.

whoa whoa whoa!! I never picked up on Londo trying to put a Keeper on David! Yes, he's a Ranger, and he's safe, but I imagined Londo sent the "Great Centauri Military" on his ass or something. But I guess Valarie just told us that JMS told us that's what he wanted in the story. And what JMS says is law in this series. lol. ah well. I love it when new twists unfold in a decade long series i love. ^_^

Yes, in one of the season 5 episodes, I think it is, where Londo meets Sheriden and Delenn, Londo gives a vase-like gift for their son to open on his 16th. Londo actually tried to warn them, but because they were on Minbar, and Minbari get violent when consuming alcohol, there wasn't any way he could knock out his own Keeper to warn them.

THAT'S RIGHT!!! i totally forgot about that. It was so sutle, i didn't even pick up on it. And since JMS didn't do much more to the B5 story after season 5, i guess i never thought about that. thanks! ^_^
