Has anybody had the pleasure of reading this book? I read it a few months ago and just loved it. The characters are strong, story is interesting and original, great illustrations. I see it as a mixture of Harry Potter, Series of Unfortunate Events and Spiderwick. Thoughts?

I've read the first two books in this series, Foundling and Lamplighter, and I'm eagerly awaiting the third. I love the world they're set in and the fabulously quirky characters.

Europe (aka Europa, Duchess-in-waiting) is one of the most fascinating fictional people I've encountered in a long time.

Lamplighter by DM Cornish

I read the first book in the Monster Blood Tattoo series, Foundling, over a year ago and thought it was pretty good. I saw the sequel, Lamplighter, in a bookstore the other day. I picked it up and had a flick through the appendices at the back, there were some pretty brilliant maps and other "special features" there - that was one of the things I loved about the first book, so already I'm sold on the second (when I have money that is).

Anyway, has anyone read it yet? What's it like?

I've merged your thread in with the existing one on the series, Hedrigall.

P.S. If you liked the first book, I don't think you will be disappointed in the second. I bought it in hardback, which is a thing I rarely do, I was that eager to read it. And I don't regret the expense at all.
