I live to write, not write to live!
Hi there,

I am just finishing - KILLING WITH THE EDGE OF THE MOON - By A.A.Attanasio

I am surprised, with his amazing back catalogue, that he is not listed among the list of Authors!

This book is short but fantastic. I think his greatest works include -
The Dragon and the Unicorn - a rewrite of the arthur story from the perspective of the gods...mindblowingly brilliant!
The Dominions of Irith series - a bizzare mix of SF and pure Fantasy...

Look him up!

James

I much preferred his science fiction, especially Radix, The Last Legends of Earth, and Centuries.

He also did a rather good (and very disturbing) Lovecraftian tale, "The Star Pools", in New Tales of the Cthulhu Mythos (1980). Haven't kept up with his work, but what I've seen has been quite impressive.

I remember reading Radix when it was first published, and being very impressed. I kept up with his output for a few years, but after Solis he seemed to disappear for a while. I did pick up some of his post-Solis novels--mostly fantasies--but I've yet to read them.

Probably neither coincidence nor collusion.

Writers do tend to go to writers whose work they themselves admire when looking for blurbs, assuming (not unreasonably) that's where they'll have the best chance of finding someone whose ideas about what makes a good book will be similar to their own.

I started reading The Kingdom of the Grail several months ago but didn't finish it. Looking back, I can't remember what it was that I didn't like about it, so it may have been that it just wasn't what I was looking for at the time.

Teresa is right,
I approached A3 with question regarding his writing and lack of books recently...he told me POD saved his career and encouraged me to GO FOR IT!! Believe it or not, he actually BOUGHT a copy and sent me an email UNSOLICITED!!

Made me smile!

I've enjoyed the extreme honor of collaborating with A. A. Attanasio on his Internet Portal (which the forum won't let me post here until I've made 15 posts. But if you do a Google search, you'll easily find it...)

Al very much enjoys email from readers, and is currently working on several new projects. As webmaster I am totally into link exchanges, posting guest art based on his work with links back to the artists, having fun, and building the site to be as factually accurate and wide-ranging as possible.

I am also operating a publishing company called FireLords with Al and Jesse Lindsay, a very creative visual artist. Our first project will be Lancelot du Lac: Book One of the Provenances of the Perilous Order - something I recovered from Al's archives of unpublished material. Presuming a successful publication (meaning we manage to sell a few copies), Al will be collaborating with Jesse and myself on several more installments in the series.

Anyway I'm glad to have found this forum and hope you'll participate in a resurgence of the blazing Attanasio style in the 21st century.
