i just finished it! ugh it was really good!! if you like harry potter, artemis fowl, narnia, (etc etc) you'll deffinately like this, its called The Lost Journals Of Ven Polypheme: The Floating Island. i wrote a review for it if youre interested, here it is!:

Although this is a fantasy novel, even the non-human characters have their moments of weakness and true emotions. Unlike most fantasy stories being published this story does not only revolve around magic but also around the mysterious sea. If you know nothing of sailing, or have never felt the gentle breeze from the ocean on your face do not be in distress, this book will entertain and enlighten your knowledge of the ocean. With every turn of the page twists and cliff hangers are introduced to the story along with beautiful illustrations by Brett Helquist. With clever fables and delightful beings of all races The Lost Journals of Ven Polypheme: The Floating Island is a wonderful book filled with adventure. Enjoy!

The Rhapsody/Prophecy/Destiny books were some of my favorite books in the past 10 years. I would not clasify those as YA, they are maturely written and fun characters, world and story.

I didnt realise this author had a YA novel out. I have some of her other books, and they wouldnt be consider YA at all, too violent and some adult material very much present.

Relief abounds!

It seems as though I've been waiting for Assassin King my whole life [I believe the release date for the UK is april 2007] and I have been needing a good Haydon read to slake my craving till next year. I wonder how her writing style will transfer to YA, because Symphony of Ages and the current trilogy are definately not YA. Well, I suppose, I dunno...I started reading them at 16, and I'm 17 now, is that age counted as YA? I think myself mature enough to handle reading gore and sex etc. I do think they are adult books though, I do hope I'm not being a hypocrite or patronising!
Anyway...yay new book!
