HarperCollins/Voyager have asked if I'll set up an email interview with Kim Harrison - so I figured as some members have already read her books, you may like to suggest some questions I can forward to Kim to answer. :)

If so, do post your questions here, but please note I'll need them before August 24th.

Goodie!

Questions for Kim:

Do you read Laurell Hamilton, Charlaine Harris, or Kelley Armstrong? Do you consciously try to avoid what they're doing in their books?

Is there a name for the genre that you and these other women are writing in (romantic horror mainstream fantasy)?

Are there certain guidelines, themes, tropes (whatever you'd call them) that you or your publishers see as necessary to include in your books?

[Brian, I know I have other questions. I'll post them later.]

Do you do a lot of research for the paranormal/supernatural elements in your books?

Why do you think the romantic-paranormal-action genre has gotten so popular in just the last few years?

Are you planning to head the series in a darker direction, morally, psychologically, and sexually?

I would echo the question of If Ms. Harrison was going to name the genre of books that hers belongs to, what would she call it?

Books like hers seem to be scattered among a number of different categories - its almost to the point that you'd hope the bookstores put them together, but, um, the genre needs a name.

Also, I'd be very interested in her plans for Jinx and his family in the next book.

Finally, Ms. Harrison's depiction of dead vamps, while believable for lack of a better term, seem rather limiting and unidimensional. This seems to restrict how they can be used as characters. Will we potentially be seeing some variation in dead vamps, or are all of them basically the same?

Where did you get the idea from for Rachel, is she based on anyone you know?

Given our posts about her titles in the thread Brian linked this thread to, maybe we should ask:

How do you pick the titles for your books?

Just wondering if this ever came about as nothing has been posted in awhile.
Nevermind, I found the thread.
