So they kill all these goa'uld and they always have weapons on them. My question is, why doesnt sg-1 or any of the other teams ever pick up the staff weapons of the goa'uld so Teal'c wasnt the only one to have one?

Thats a good point. I always assumed that Teal'c was the only on who carried a staff weapon because it was what he was trained with so chose to remain using.

I'm always big on assumptions. <G> For this one I'd say they probably do pick up the stray weapon here and there, but it's not something really pertinent to the plot so we never see it happening. Kind of like the 'bathroom' thing. <G>

although i would think they would perhaps send in other sg-1 teams on picking up tech instead of getting sg-1 to do it.

but you would think that sg-1 and other mambers would be using the staff weapons. I know lots of them use zat guns but noone ever uses a staff weapn except teal'c.

Think of it this way, which is easier to carry? <G>

ek staff weapons are bad. They don't seem to have any advantage really, a horrible rate of fire must be the worst feature. Although the way bullets go through the jaffa shields is a little "interesting" as there seems to be no problem automatics seem better (especially as we have 1 staff weapon when an energy weapon is useful).

Interesting you bring up the shield thing. I'm assuming you're talking about those 'knight in shining armor' things they wear. I'm wondering why the Goa'uld haven't come up with some decent 'kevlar' themselves since projectile weapons seem to be so effective.

"like the 'bathroom' thing" ROFL!!
I was thinking the staff weapon must be heavy and the, umm backfire (hope that is the correct word) must be tremendous.

We don't know for sure what the force exertered by any weapon is becuase they don't really move much when they fire them.

goa'uld weapons...

But the Goa'uld weapons have no effect on the replicators, that might be why sg-1 prefer mp5's and P90's

I think the whole 'easy to carry' is top of the list for having Tauri weapons. Now that they have the P-90s, I think they also have the greater rate of fire than a staff weapon. Light weight and compact firepower.

OTOH, if you want to break a large hole in half-meter think stone the staff weapon is choice for that application when you're lacking a grenade. :D

As for how heavy a staff weapon recoil is: not much. A whole lost less than a Noisy Cricket, let's say. :D And from COTG we see Jack doing some fancy flipping and spinning of his borrowed staff so I'm betting it's not as heavy as you'd expect, just unweldy.
