For some reason, Daniel seems like he wouldn't get along with many people.

Perhaps, sam would be more likely choice though, military aspect but also scientist. I think that is also what is strange about it, they picked a non scientist as their liason person.

They probably chose Jack for the really simple reason that he is the commanding officer of the team and the one that they have had the majority of their dealings with up to the point when they chose him for the liason in FG.
