Comments on the books

So what books have you people read? I have rebellion and retaliation sitting on my bookshelf ready to be read but not got round to it (i seem to buy 2 for every 1 i read) so what did everyone else think of them?

Actually the Bill McKay books aren't bad. I've read them all and enjoyed each. It was a little strange after going from the series to reading them, but I think they are well worth it. I do wish he would finish with the series though. He kind of left a cliff hanger with the last one.
As for the SG1 books, I've read The Price You Pay by Ashley McConnell. The jury is still out on hers. I did think that she wrote the characters fairly decently, but the actual hook for the story went against canon (IMHO).

Didn't Ashley also write a book about the first episode of season 1. I could never quite understand the point of that. I find that if i read something first then that is fine you probably prefere it to anything done in film but if you read a book after you have watched the film/episode it is a bit weird. I did not know she had done some original books as well so might look into those. Unfortuatly my to do reading list has about 30 books on the shelf and I have just started Peter Hamilton's The Reality Dysfunction which is over 1200 pages! so i guess i am busy for a while hehe.

Yes, she did do the adaptation for Children of the Gods. She's got two out now - "The Price You Pay" and geez, I can't remember the name of the second one. I haven't gotten it yet. Haven't heard too many comments on it though.

I'm more of a Ashley McConnell fan myself. Though the books have their very boring parts (along with the; not so boring, mildly boring, and slightly intersting parts), I enjoy them because they're easier to carry around then FanFic I try to print out some stories, but it takes 50 or so pages. The reason I haven't tryed Bill McKay's books is because I absolutely hated the movie, and I heard the characters he uses is the ones from the movie (The new and improved tv-character personalities are much better, IMO).

It seems, from what I've read, that Ashley McConnel watches and keeps up to date with the show, while Bill McKay I think it is, is still stuck watching Stargate the movie. I've noticed that for me it's hard for me to read his books after watching the show. Just doesn't follow

I can read his books, in fact like them better than the AM books. The writing is much tighter and the story lines, if you read them as a total separation from the series, are better also. I can even picture RDA and MS as the characters while reading them. Although I do miss the other characters, to me, they are a better read.

Looks like i am gong to have to take them of my shelf and start reading. Unfortunatly only about 150 pages through the realtity dysfunction, this place is just taking up too much time

We do all have our different opinions. I still think her's are easier. Takes less brain power to read and relate on hers.
