RangerOne SG13 SOR

A DAM GOOD Episode although the bit about Teal`c and Sam not being compatable to the drugs spoilt it a little. Also I dont like how they quote the SGC being impenatrable etc but when the time comes all they have to do is find an air shaft etc come guys that is soooo A TEAM hehehe
Still a dam good storyline.

:p

Oh geez, what was that line of Carter's?
Maybourne you're an idiot every day of week, couldn't you have just taken one day off?

Something along those lines. <G>

All in all, I'd agree with you. They probably do need to think it through more clearly about what sort of drugs are going to affect Carter and Teal'c and which aren't.

Cheers,

Yep, It would have been better to make this a 2 parter as it was a great story line. Then they could have expanded on Sam and Teal`cs escape etc.
The really silly thing was that room where everyone was strung up. The strange table where your body passed thru and was connected to those tenticles made me laugh big time.

Hmm they should made it a 2 parter

:p

Totally agree with the 2-parter idea. Although, with the Sam and Teal'c thing, it was feasible as the process of reproducing them wouldn't work. It wasn't the drug that didn't work...it definitely *did* work, that's why Carter wasn't looking too healthy for the majority of the episode. It was that the aliens' machine wouldn't work on them. This is feasible, because perhaps they haven't ever either:
a) Met the Goa'uld
or
b) Had the chance to capture one (or a Jaffa) and take them over.
They may not have realised about the whole Goa'uld/Jaffa thing.

As for Carter going to contact Maybourne...well, she needed to contact someone who had clearance to know about the SGC. Her father was off-world, Kinsey wasn't military, Samuels wasn't involved anymore and she didn't know Davis yet (even though he was taken over by the aliens himself!) ;-D
So Maybourne was the only choice. She knew that he would take any excuse to get involved in the SGC again.
And, of course, she still had that tetra-etha-mermaliney stuff influencing her judgement :)

Oh...another thing. It was great to see Carter being able to be the hero instead of Jack or Daniel. The boys get all the fun, so it was great to see Sam finally getting in on the act!
And that leather jacket she wore was really cool...I want one of those too! :)

Interesting viewpoint since most people think that Sam is the one who rushes in to save the day on most episodes and would love to see Jack, Daniel, or Teal'c do it on occassion.

a) generally the problems they find themselves in tend to be ones which they either shoot their way out of (Jack, Teal'c and Sam), or think their way out of (Daniel and Sam), perhaps with Goa'uld inside knowledge (Teal'c or possibly Sam), so supporting the previous message.

b) How come the aliens were able to dial up the gate? Presumably the writers had forgotten the hand-scanner that Sam went to so much trouble to install... by the time they were dialling, they were back to their normal form, so would not "pass" the scan.

lol

oh yeh id forgot about that............

i saw this today. it was pretty cool..........the aliens were freaky.......
awww isnt it ood? maybourne finally saved the day and won his place in jacks good books?lol

ok im crazy

good episode :)

foothold is one of my faves. i like the sam/teal'c interaction and the shootout in the halls is good. also, well they were nice alien aliens....a nice change from make-up easy, slap a facial prosthetic on and call em aliens they ususally have.

lol

true true

the bit where she changes between herself and danny were good!lol

and the part where fraser goes "loosen ur belt colonel"lol

i was killing myslef watching this epi!lol

I loved the bit at the beginning when Jack was talking about having water in his ears. He starts talking to Daniel about the Harcesis and they can't hear each other!

My TV's broken, the sound and the colour is really bad (and this effected the recording of 'Foothold'). It's almost a good thing that there's not SG ep on today for me to miss because of it.

Sam was really good (what I could see and hear of her, that is) and that line to Maybourne is just brilliant!

And with Jack and Fraser:

"You know its procedure..."
"Yeah, well we should think about changing that procedure!" LOL

lol

wat bout when he goes to the nurse
>jak says>< really jam it in this time! lol

this is one of my fave eps!

tho that thing about the hand-scanner i'd completely forgotten about! so - and attempt to explain it away -- the aliens scanned the hands in b4 they switched back? maybe? just a thought - and it would have had to have been a really fast scan!

and ya know - they haven't even mentioned that hand scanner since "Show and Tell" - i don't think we've even seen it ---

i love that Major Davis makes an appearance and gets to be 'in on the action' a bit --

and the effects and Michael Shanks have to 'act' like Sam when he's running around to find Jack -- too much! since he doesn't get much time acting like a 'military' guy - i know he's not, but it's nice to see him do something else on the show ---

all-around - a good ep -- and that line "Maybourne, you're an idiot every day of the week...."

Yeah, they should so bring it back, although then they'd probably be criticised for not thinking up new plot lines ...

Well, I don't think so -- it wouldn't be a lack of plot - just something they should have remembered -- it would have made the 'Foothold' situation a bit less perilous tho --- would have been less tension - b/c the aliens wouldn't have been able to get through the gate ----- just a guess -

Well, I think there's a difference between lack of plot and continuity of storylines, but it all depends on how it's done.

Cool Aliens

These aliens really did actually look alien, it's a shame we probably won't see them again. I think that was funny where Jack wakes up suspended from the ceiling and tries to steady himself by grabbing hold of something, then he looks round and realises he's holding Hammond's head and say's sorry. I also liked that bit where Jack and Davis try to escape:

"Davis, the release is..."
(Davis falls out of the air)
"You found it."

The scene at the end where everyone realises the aliens are about to self-destruct was good as Jack just about managed to get the blast doors shut in time.
O'Neill as usual got a good tongue-in-cheek line about the wrecking of the gate room: "Touch of paint, it'll be fine!"
He was obviously referring to the fact that in most shows such as Star Trek Voyager, no matter how badly damaged the place gets, it'll always be back to normal the following episode.

Well, this was my first episode of SG-1, and I don't think I've yet seen a better one (for all that it's totally Earthbound). I liked the way that TV finally got some half-decent action (try finding that on a decent cop show), and that the aliens were alien (even if they were men-in-suits. And we got Carter being cool (shooting Daniel - verrrry cool, even cold). I did think that the aliens all blowing up was a bit of a lame ending, though.
