I did like this episode. It showed me how creative the writers could be. Why though did Captain Hansen want to stay there? I wouldn't. That place was like crap. I give it a 5 out of 10.

Crap, i agree. But a damn good episode. A favourite quote was "Hey I'd love to stay and chat but some brain dead sicofan left my buddy out here to die" -Jack.
What is a sicofan?

sycophant

sycophant- a self seeker who attempts to win favor by flattering influential people; a parasite; a toady

wow! not a nice thing to be called then :)

and welcome gategeek :) welcome to the forums.

So it is a silent 'T' ? Or do i need to get my ears checked ?

Hey GateGeek

So it is a silent 'T' ? Or do i need to get my ears checked ?

Not a silent "T" just the way some people pronounce it. ;)

My favorite quote "Does it say Colonel anywhere on my uniform?"

Cheers,

Heh, yeah good quote, also one that sticks with me is "This tastes like chicken" "So what's wrong with it?" "It's macoroni and cheese" :)

I also like the end quote when Jack is talking ab out the Bible

Yeah, I like the end too. And also this quote:
Jack: "Sky...orange?"
Jamala: "The sky...up there."
Jack: "Yeah, I know what the sky is."

Heh, yeah funny. And Jack's reaaction when Hanson says to Baker to shoot him is Sam can't turn on the device.

Yeh, I liked this episode too.
Nice to see a little glimps into Carters background.

Personally I liked:

Daniel: We should have stopped her.
Teal'c: We would not have succeeded.

well...I post only to post I think, but...I liked this episode. as I like all episodes...almost...do I write rubbish? yes.. I think so. Perhaps I should quit? Yeppers again. so I think I go now....at least to the next topic...see you...

In itself I suppose it was, until they got the shield up. However, the reason he wanted to stay there was the effect the people had on him. He may have been slightly unstable before he arrived, but by the time the people were treating him like a king, he went over the edge. If he was mad enough to want to stay to be king, then the "where" part is probably irrelevant.

I spose he could look past the coutryside (!), an dfocus on the fact that if/when the ppl finished what they were buildng, there would be an entire city dedicated to him, etc etc

Just re-watched this episode on Sky One, haven't seen it for a while cos i never thought that it was much good (2/10). However, this time it seemed much better. There were a lot of funny moments, my fav was one i never noticed before, when Daniel is talkin to Carter about special ops people, he says "The crazier they are, the more bizzare situation they seem to be put in" (looks at Jack).
LOL.

Now i'd give this 6/10.

Btw, how does the Stargate go from vertical to horizontal and back again?

i'm guessing the locals just knocked it over then set it back upright. they would have to do the same thing in 100 days and if you've seen 2001, there is actually a way to mechanize it.

all you have to do is make sure the right side is up

i've watched this episode a few times, but can't say that i'd give it much more than 5/10 --

there are funny lines sure -- but the episode just didn't appeal to me --

i don't hate it - (there's only one ep of SG-1 that i hate) - but i defintely don't love it either -- it's just one of those eps that's just there ----
