I finally get to see the real use that this mirror thing can perform. Too bad that Alternate Sam had to see her husband agian. Kinda made you feel sorry for her. =-( I give it a 7 out of 10.

Alternate Reality hasn't ever really appealed to me as far Stargate goes. And the wig on the alternate Sam was the pits. <G>
Cheers,

HOw exaclty do they film an episode like this? With the 2 carters?

They first go through it with Sam doing her lines and the camera going into certain positions. Then the other Sam comes in and does her lines with the camera going t=into the same positions as before. Then they combine the two and it comes out with 2 Sams.

I just had a thought..... When they turned off the device controlling the mirror after they when through it, later Jackson is trying to reset it back to their original universe. While he is doing it he find one that looks like theirs but Carter's rank is wrong. Later he finds one with Carter's correct rank. How do they know that its the right one for sure...ie the wrong one looked exactly like theirs but with carter's rank different. The one they did return to could have been the same as far as SGC was concerned but outside of the building something could have been different. Something that they wouldn't know because they never knew it previous to passing through the mirror. ie A Major Smith in Alaska is now Sgt. Smith in Florida.
SG-1 may not have ever returned to the original universe. Meanwhile in the original universe Hammond and Carter waited and waited but SG-1 was finally listed as MIA. brrr.

And what about the reality where the other 'wrong rank' Carter was....who was she waiting for?

ooh the fic fodder that question has caused.
see, no one really knows so...it's up to your imagination to fill in.
i've read a fic where they were still looking for their daniel from tbftgog. it was s/d by the way.

What is this symbol for?!

Good one, SGPflughaupt!

The AR Carter could have been doing an infinite numba of things: they could have been using the mirror for a mission, and she was waiting for a team to come back, she could be in the same situation as SG-1: waiting for a team to come back from rescuing *another* universe, etc, etc. She could just have 'found' it, and had just activated it, and was curious. OR it could be Jolinar, in a *completely* different world, waiting for Martouf to return from a covert mission... or her she could have just travelled to the wrong world, and was looking to get back, or she could be a Goa'uld, 'cos they took over Earth ... the list is endless!

Altho I might be a bit off, 'cos I haven;t seen the ep in AAAAAGES!

PS what good reason is there to use that arrow symbol?!

Just got the video of this ep and I really liked it. 8 out of 10 for me. Good episode
Bye

One of my fav's too, especially at the end when they're being interrogated by Apophis, and Jack says "I don't understand all this stuff...................(indicating Daniel), he does". The look on Daniel's face! Great lines, too, "you of all people should understand there's no such thing as magic". Nice stuff.

Yeah that was great. He really dropped Daniel in it there.
Bye

I finally saw this ep on the re-runs a lil while back... It was really good, esp playing with the mirror trying to find the right place.. it makes you think, it was a pretty unique set of circumstances that saved "our" earth from the Goa'ulds, and that a lot of other realities have not been so lucky...

And although Gen Hammons ordered the mirror destroyed, we never saw it happen, so someone at the pentagon could have saved it for a future episode...

*gasp* I sooo hope that happens. Maybe I'll just *pretend* it has, it's not like they'll eva contradict me...

I love all that alternate reality stuff... sigh...

Now this is one of my faves of season three.
Although the wig on the other Sam was really bad...I did feel a little sorry for her..having to cope with seeing Jack again.
I liked seeing Charlie back..I always thought they should have kept him in it.

Also felt a littel sorry for 'our' Sam having to cope with her twin and Jack and her twin kissing in the end

Liked the line..
Jack: How you feeling about this whole twin thing?
Carter: Have you got a couple of hours?
Jack: err yeah...
Carter: That was the answer.

Poor Jack;)

ONE OF THE MOST UNDERRATED EPISODES!

What an amazing storyline! How can anyone not remember what happened here? Twin Carters, Jack and Carter(2) have a brief fling, Major Kawalski makes a short appearance, Teal'c kills Teal'c, Apophis has a goatee, and much much more!

Anyone else remember this one?

Cool Alternate Universe

I've always been a fan of alternate universe stories, this was no exception. This was one really action-packed episode from beginning to end. It was good when Apophis is interrogating SG-1 and doesn't believe them even though they're actually telling him the truth. It was extra effective when he kills Hammond, causing Kawalski to lose it. Then later, he zats Daniel, causing both Jack and Kawalski to lose it. It was emotional at the end when Jack and Dr Carter kiss each other and we get a reaction shot from Major Carter (We all know how she's feeling at that moment!). The music in this scene is equally moving.

The first time round I wasn't masivly thrilled with this ep (of course it was on the comper monitor so...) anyhoo, I've started to like it more now, especially the shippiness going on. You can tell Jack wants to kiss Sam back (Sam inisiated the kiss at the end) but was really unsure & when she pulled away & said "you're really not him" Jack has so much regret in his voice when he sais no he's not. Anyhoo, I always like Kawalskey. Still think they should find a way to bring him in to our reality to stay (solving all those problemes asociated with being in a different reality..wha was that shift thing?). Took me a while to understand why Teal'c said (after killing 'himself') that our reality is all that counts. I guessing he's implying that only the reality where he actually had the curage to defy Apophis & try to free his people is the one that matters. I was also bugged by that little question of, 'how DO they know Danny set the mirror back to the right reality'.

I would have loved to see Jacob make an appearance in this episode. Two daughters? Selmac would have had a field day with him. LOL Overall, I thought this was pretty good, but not the best.

Also, I thougt Hammond looked a little punk in his collar and stuff. I found it really distracting. He looked like he was on his way to a club.
