I watched this episode for the first time yesterday and found it a little weird. Why did the SG-1 team bother going to the alien invasion staging planet when they could easily have let the enemies in. What did it achieve I wonder?
By the end of the episode, nothing had really been achieved. The enemy force was still there waiting to attack and Earth had very little new protections. Yes we had the weapons from the Tok'ra but we had those before we went to the planet.

A little strange, an ok episode but definitely not one of my favourites.

About half way though. The alien already in the base gave them the address through the kid and they went through with 2 other sg teams. That was when the climbed up and looked over the ridge and there was a few hundred aliens there. When they got back, about 5 of them followed and started ripping the base up.

Been awhile since I've seen that one, but if I remember correctly they did give a reason for going to the planet which was to access their strength. One of those things where advanced recon is an advantage.

Yeah they said that but istn't information always an advantage. It is like suggesting they would just go to the Goa'uld homeplanet to check military strength. Especially silly considering the aliens are invisible and could so easily get in through the gate when they dialed back. What would it achieve knowing if there are 50 groups of 5 aliens or just 1. As 1 group could destroy a lot (ie whole cities as the Tok'ra said) then they still need the same defenses.
I think they are all just addictied to stargate travel

You just gotta put yourself into a military mindset, padders. They don't think like non-military. <G>
I also think they were assuming that they would be able to know if anyone followed them back through because of the intense feeling that their larvae feel when around them.

I guess that explains it. They thought they could detect the aliens but could not. So the problem now is, can they detect them now?
We are making the assumption that that was when they got into the base and they were not already there (from previous gate travel and waiting to cause damage) that is what i think is the case but not 100% sure.

I'm not sure, because I don't remember, if they said that they got on the base before, during, or after the recon mission to that rebel world. If it was before, then they hid well because "Mom" didn't know they were there, if it was during then they went through before the teams did so that the Tok'ra and Teal'c who were among them didn't feel their presence because if they went through with or after, then Teal'c or the Tok'ra would have noticed. I don't remember if there was any Gate activity after the recon mission. If there was, they could have come through then and if the Tok'ra or Teal'c were not actually standing guard at the ramp then they could have simply come through. Anybody understand all of that?
It does beg the question as to how they are preventing themselves from being infiltrated again. Have they modded the device that sees them and have it mounted at the Gate so that if any Rhi'to come through they are automatically spotted? Does one of those SF guards carry one of the weapons and aim it at the Gate whenever a wormhole is activated from off world and someone comes through?

Cheers,

I think they were going to install it into the gate room.
That bit about Mum, what happened when she died. I did not really understand quite what happened. Where they in the room and she did not notice or something or did Jack and Sam chase them into the room and then Mum kill one of them? Strange...

cool guns they have anyway.

p.s. i wonder if we should have the discussion about invisibility and if it works as an idea?

Little details like:

"Charlie - tell that nice Jack that there are two Reetou rebels standing in this room, one on either side of me, and I am standin g [...]"

Anyway, my question: how many people went to the Reetou planet for the probably ill-considered recon mission.

I make it, 4 SG-1, 2 Tok'ra, 4 SG-3 (you can a patch), and 3 or four of SG-12 (named) who stay to guard the gate and DHD. Any other offers?

I haven't seen this ep in ages but wasn't it 4 SG-1, 2 Tok'Ra (Jake and the other dude) and then 4 SG-3 (or was it SG-6)?

I liked the Jack/Danny scene where they are trying to apoligise to each other. That was funny.

No - there were either 3 or 4 from SG-12 as well, who stayed behing with the second Tok'ra to guard the gate "watch our six".

Just watched again yesterday, and realised something else:

right at the start, when "mother" is playing with the iris to allow Charlie to arrive, the control room is crowded because of the unexpected wormhole. So:

a) how come none of them physically touch "mom"
b) how come Teal\'c (okay, his symbiote) doesn't sense her.
