We're going to disagree again. <G> Although it's not one of my favorites, it does give a lot of insight into the characters.
First that Jack was willing to save whomever he could of his team even if it meant leaving someone behind. Although I believe that if they did have to leave Daniel, Jack would have gone back for him.

Second, we get find out a little bit more about Jack - just a snippet, but it's a tidbit and emphasizes the mystery behind him.

Third, we also get to see how well Jack can empathize and comfort someone when he is trying to talk Daniel down from the Sarc withdrawal and it's another snippet of information into Jack's character.

I don't think it was intentional on Daniel's part about his feelings for the Princess. In my mind it goes back to his Sarc addiction. He wasn't exactly in his right mind.

Need a perm, hop in the Sarc. <G>

Cheers,

Nope. Just differing ways of viewing things. My son watches for the action, but I've always been interested in human nature and what motivates people. It's one of the reasons my book shelves are filled with books on psychology. <G>

Daniel wasn't in his right mind. Drugs are drugs, no matter what context or genre.

after i saw this, i felt a little more sympathy for pple with addictions

addictions are insidious.. you'll do anything to get your fix.. and when you come off, esp. when its cold turkey, heaven help those around you!..
and if you dont have people around who support you and love you, it makes it that much harder.. you have to feel like you're worth something if you're going to see the process through...

makes you wonder:...some addictions are caused by people needing to "feel", and people with low self esteem.. Danny was always low man on the totem pole.. and even though he desparately cares about his team, was his self esteem so low as to let him get sucked into the sarc. addiction?.. could you see Jack letting this happen?...
do you think it would happen "now", given the way that Danny has evolved?

I liked it too, for all the Jack / Daniel interaction scenes, and for showing Jack's rigidness. I also enjoyed the conflict Jack and Sam had over their reactions to Daniel's actions. But I hated Shyla - - -every scene with her just made me squirm. She's way up there on my personal most-hated-alien chart ......

So who else is on your alien hate list.
Chronos is on mine.

i hate ansie, and hathor and if maybourne was an alien he'd be on the list too

The whole thing makes me squirm just to think of it. Shyla was, something unrepeatable, to treat Daniel in the way she did.
I also think that the way Daniel acted whilst under the influence of the sarc. was kind of expected of him: totally different from what he is normally, violent, irrational and over-emotional to a wild extent. I have to say I am unable to think of drug-adicction scenes in programmes in the same way again. Even the thing on ER got me thinking back to Jack and Daniel in the store room.

also Anise, Nirti, that guy from Serpent's Venom whose name escapes me now....

I thought this one was good - Shanks' acting is really good, especially when he's going through withdrawal, and when he's on the throne, when Jack calls him "He who would be King". I never seen his acting this good.
