This episode was the first to show how great their special effects are and lets you know they can do a whole lot better. Too bad the other cultures weren't living there. Wonder why they abandoned it? I give it a 9 out of 10.

Torment of Tantalus is another one of the first season episodes that outshines a lot of the episodes shown after it. The performances by all were outstanding. It's another one that asks what lengths should one go to to obtain knowledge and just reinforces the thought that no matter how hard we try, there are going to be some things that are going to be out of our reach. It's what makes people strive to learn more and encompasses wisdom rather than the bare facts of just knowing something.
Cheers,

Yep a good episode, infact quite gripping. But I didnt like the way Carter had her multimeter connected to the DHD when u can clearly see it has optical wiring rather than electrical. It just looked out of place.
;P

This i thought was probably the best episode of season 1, perhaps a close tie with the Nox.
It was the line "what use is there when there is no one to share it with" when said to Daniel. I was surprised actually that it took Daniel so long to work this out and he sort of forgot about the whole Sha're thing.

But brilliant episode.

Another 'non action' episode but quite touching i normally just rewind it after i watch "thor's hammer'
How did the helmet thingo get on the top of the 'castle'?

Major Carter
A great show altogether, but something's bugging me...we all now that Jack did not reveal that Daniel was alive and well with the people on Abydos (re. COTG), BUT, when Daniel meets Katharine, she says 'Colonel O'Neill said you staid on Abydos'...does it mean that Jack told Katharine, but not his CO???
Or is it another mark on my list (stuff the writers mess up)????

The helmet was put there by Teal'c and I would imagine Jack told Katherine when he gave her the necklace back. Just a guess.

I don't think so, he had to stick to the report he handed in to General West or risk being courtmartialed.

This was one of my favorite episodes. I think the story is phenomenal and the flashbacks add a lot to it. I love the character of Catherine and it is so touching when she finds Ernest again. Daniel has a great storyline and it showcases his insatiable curiosity.

Thanks for defining my word "insatiable" - it's a good word to know because it describes how we all feel about Stargate SG-1 - incapable of being satisfied - we want more, more, more all the time!!

Dang I should start reading the Dictionary some more.....

Hey Mything is "Cheers," your signature or do you always write it at the end of a post?
