Not really. I've never been a big fan of killing of characters (even if they are only peripherally involved in the show) and I couldn't really see how it advanced the plot any. They already knew from the one man that the Goa'uld were on the planet and taking hosts. As much as Rothman was ridiculed in the episodes he's been in, I can't imagine if he were that much of an idiot he would have been allowed to join the SGC in the first place.
