I was so tee'd off over this episode but then another SG1 fan and friend of mine offered this to me as a way to pull me off of the ceiling. <G>
To preface: In several interviews and online chats RDA and AT have both said that there would be no relationship between O'Neill and Carter. Also, I believe it was RDA who said, 'All is not as it seems.' What he was referring to, however, I don't know.
So unless we're being lied to by all and sundry I offer the following:
We all know that Jack has never trusted Anise/Freya. Just from the character of the man, I don't think he's going to change his mind about that simply because she's now showing an interest in him as a man. Remember how, during that little scene with her that almost made me lose my dinner, he asks her if the timing for this revelation isn't off. Then when he tells Daniel about it, he also mentions the timing.
What if he believes that she isn't what she seems and he is trying to set her up. How to do that? How about get together with Sam and come up with this little 'love' thing to try to get her to show her hand.
What if she's trying to 'turn' Jack thinking that if he becomes involved with her, he'll be easier to manipulate? Jack has just put a wrench in that by professing his feelings for Carter. Now she has to do something to get back the upper hand. Maybe try to do something to turn Jack away from Carter and to her instead. When she does, they have some proof that she's not the little allie she's trying to convince everyone she is.
Divide and Conquer - she says that Freya is attracted to Jack, but Anise is attracted to Daniel. Could she be trying to split the two men as well?
Just a little thought.
Cheers,
