The official Teryl Rothery (Dr. Janet Fraiser) web site is reporting that actor Michael Shanks will direct this season's "Double Jeopardy." No further details are yet known about the episode, though it will probably air in
February, 2001.

Also means the actors are likely to stay with the show longer i would think.

ARRG! Hope MS is staying with the show! Have just gotten over the CHAIN REACTION shock and still broody over a certain Tok'Ra and Anthropologist or Paleontologist. Need no more SHOCKS! People have said the Major 4 signed up again for another couple of years....am still shaky though.
Am looking forward to MS debut as a director. Must be wierd to try and direct yourself and the rest of the people.

Cool, so i don't quite get the role of director, will he still be in the epidode?

I can't wait to see Michael Shanks' directorial debut. Good for him! It's gotta be both exciting and a bit scary to direct for the first time. I hope he knows that we are all supportive of his creative endeavors!

I read that the rest of the cast plan to give him a really hard time, because MS apparently used to give the directors a hard time, before he loosened up a bit.

Just as a joke Martouf. I read reports from gatecon, that MS is directing the ep now, and that he is doing an awesome job. The ep he is directing, is now scheduled for Jan 26.

Something else that's been mentioned is that he also wrote this episode.

Cheers,

Wow - Michael must be under so must pressure with this episode. Someone who went to Gatecon said that according to Christopher Judge, Michael Shanks has been working 18 hour days on this ep. Imagine how much heart and soul he is putting into this, especially if he wrote it too. I hope he gets high praise for all his effort, as based on all the talent he seems to possess, I'm sure it will be a masterpiece!

I still don't understand..... will he be 'in' this episdoe?
I think Mything suggested that it will be a good career move, yeah it will be especially after Stargate finishes....

I guess we won't know for sure if he's in it until we see it, unfortuneately. All the more reason to watch! I've always admired actors who can write, direct and produce and stuff, all at the same time.

Heh, ie RDA?

So double jeapoardy will be made next year? Aren't they getting a little behind then?

Definately Richard Dean Anderson is multi-talented and one of my favorite actor/director/writer/producers. My first fave when I was younger was Michael Landon - I thought he was just awesome and could do anything. Now it seems as though Michael Shanks is moving in that direction. Someone who went to Gatecon said that Michael's ep Double Jeopardy would be on January 26th or somewhere around then. Not soon enough for me!

It isn't that unusual for people to direct themselves. Probably makes it a tad more difficult, but they can do it.

Cheers,

I've always dreamed of being able to watch a tv show being filmed, especially one in which an actor directs himself. I'd love to see how they yell "action" and "cut" in the middle of saying all their lines and have to run back and forth to the cameras to make sure the shots are the way they want them to be. Must be exhausting but exhilarating. I have no doubt that Michael Shanks is up to the task. He's young, energetic, motivated, passionate and talented.

How old is good old MS? I know he's younger than Jack but he can't be too young... (but i s'pose young in a directing career isn't too young at all, look at Spielberg)

Story goes that MS has been working 18 hour days working on his show and probably the major contributing factor to his not being at Gatecon.

Cheers,
