Kind of cute to find that the big guy is reading magazines like The National Inquirer. I have to wonder what he finds so fascinating in them. Is it because of their sometimes outlandish articles and he's reading them to try and understand the silliness of the human race or is he finding something he can relate to in them? <G>

Cute idea though.

Cheers,

Mythinglink,

Wish they would let Teal'c read a copy of "Nature" every once in a great while rather than Jack's faves like the "National Inquirer" or the "Globe".

Actually they said that Teal'c had developed an appetite for the mags. <G> Jack's influence probably would have included reading MAD magazine while listening to opera. <BG>

Cheers,

That's Jack style! Loved Shades of Grey for that reason. Prefer Verdi's Paliacci(Spelling is awful) in Italian as the libretto is so bad... It is SOAP OPERA However, not as bad as Wagner!

But would like T-Man to exhibit a broader spectrum than National Inquirer....but I can see Jack urging him to buy it and Teal'c because he is a good friend (taking the harassment especially from Jack) to get it for his friend.

Gosh, I don't think anyone who has posted yet believes that Teal'c would purchase NI on his own without Jack's urging.

Well . . . darn! I completely missed this one! I haven't even heard about it. Someone give me the whole scoop!

Thanks!

In Window of Opportunity Teal'c is seen reading one of those NI like rags and seeming to enjoy it. ;) Then in The Curse, Jack is spotted by Daniel reading one. He mentions that Teal'c had developed an 'appetite' for them.

Thinking back on this, I can see the Teal'cster chosing one to read. On cross country journeys, staying in Motel 6's I've noticed that there are always those mags available in vending machines either outside the office or inside. He probably bought one since he seems to read a lot to become familiar with life on Earth. :)

Cheers,

Been thinking about what you said about Teal'c reading that "stuff" and perhaps he is choosing to find out about earth's lowest common denominator (jucy and often made up gossip) in reading as he doesn't get out much to observe it first hand!

maybe he's on a mission from general hammond looking for security leaks. after all the ni would be the mag to print a story about aliens living on earth and a big huge ring that'll send you to another planet

LOLLOL skydiver,

I love your reply! Fits in with Point of no return!

Actually, what I like best about Teal'c reading the National Enquirer is the thought of him explaining to Master Bra'tag (sp?) about the three headed baby born of the Tauree . . .

he one born near Roswell, N. M. from the alien implant?

Or the one born in the midwest?

I think it's a scream that our creative, fast-thinking "government" keeps all the Stargate goodies at Area 51 . . . and about that frozen general; where are we going to keep him?

Major brain hiccup here ... frozen general?

Cheers,

Sorry - realized I was in a Series chat room and not supposed to give away the secrets from the next shows. I guess as an administrator you've probably seen them all. I think his name is General Harry Mayborne (?) - the guy who probably helped steal the second stargate that was supposed to be locked up, and later showed up in a freezer in Siberia in the epy that Marina Sirtis was in. The one in which the Russians found another stargate underwater - when they traveled to another world with a stargate which was, technically, "underwater," the "water" was actually life forms.

Harry is only a colonel in the U.S.A.F., unles the Ruskis promoted him. You know promotion to the highest level of his and thier incompetence.

Teal'c, a being from another planet, with a worm in his stomach who comes to a new world and gets his opinions on what Earth is like from reading the "National Enquire". Well, he's either thinking "There's no place like home." (Chulak) or, "And they think I'm strange?"

Ah The Peter Principle. ;)

Texane - I thought you might have been thinking Maybourne, but wanted to make sure before I said something stupid. ;)

Maybourne, I think, we can assume got away again. He's starting to remind me of the Energizer Bunny. ;)

Cheers,

My beloved Harry has the same amount of lives as does my wonderful Apophis (I really like the way Tom MacBeath and Peter Williams do these two villians, what great actors they are!) Ah! the slime ball I love to hate and the false god I jazz on watching! Loved Apophis on Serpent's Song and Serpent's venom. He lost his beloved Amonnet and now has eight zillion harem members to take her place! Sort of a back handed tribute!
