Mulder and Scully analyze a series of murders that look as if they were committed by a man who kills through dreams. First appearance of Agent Alex Krycek.

Scully is elsewhere perhaps on a different case so Mulder is assigned a young Alex Krycek.

Mulder is notified of the case by tape. Dr Saul Grissom the murdered victim ran a sleep clinic. Its believed the last survivor of the clinic is getting his revenge. The chap who we find to an Augustus Cole hasn't slept for 24 years. It seems as though he's developed a physic ability to create dreams which kill.

Mulder is also contacted by X for the first time in this episode. Scully asks "if Mulder trusts him".

We see Krycek reporting to the CSM about the involvement of X.
