We need to find some more andromeda fans, especially for when the show starts. Any idea on top places to find them?

There are a couple of Andromeda lists which I've posted notices to ... will do again with the list admins permission. I'm waiting for my ISP to get alt.tv.andromeda. I asked them about 4 days ago for it and they haven't replied yet. (Said it takes about a week for them to look at and reply to the request.) There's the Delphi forum over at http://www.andromedatv.com, but I never really liked Delphi that much. Maybe someone with more experience with it can post something there. Other than that, just posting it on other lists like KS lists or ST lists might help. I don't belong to any of those.

Cheers,

I hate delphi, can't understand why anyone would use them but never mind.

I will go post there now. Perhaps get a few people over here. Really need to start some threads of to get it going but we need to actually have an episode first i guess!

Finding Fans

You will find most of the hard core fans here

http://slipstreambbs.com/

simply because this is where three of the shows writers and producers and tech guys interact directly with the fans they are pledged to this board only so most everyone goes there.

As well as that they also have people in the know at the official Andromeda site which has its own forum and chat rooms where you can speak to the staff online.

http://www.andromedatv.com/splash.html

As for the mailing lists there are at least 4 or 5 that I know of all on e-groups.

Hope this helps

Yup the slipstream one i know about, they don't have huge amoounts of members yet for a "semi-offical site", not many more tha us. I guess the idea is to try and convert a few over to here!

I will look into the egroup lists, good plan.

Couldn't see any real interaction with writers and producers though, hopefully they won't much so people will come here!

They interact on a daily basis I myself speak with two of them every day online in chat as well as on the actual board as well as the writers the staff from Tribune also speak on a daily basis even Robert Hewitt Wolf posts on the slipstream board.
I have also been unofficially told that occassionally the actors will lurk on the board to get honest feedback, whether this is true or not is beside the point its what draws the people to it.

Then there is the tech guys those fans who want the ins and outs of the trek techno babble get it directly from the shows tech advisors pretty big drawcard for fans...:)

really.. agghh. unfair advantage.

Oh well, hopefully we will get them over here other ways.

Yeah, it's an unfortunate reality when the official site puts up something ... like for Showtime it's the Sci-Friday boards. I can't understand why, though, Delphi is so popular. I guess it's just because they are there and have been for awhile.

Cheers,

well they have huge advertising budgets to promote the site as well as it coming up after the show airs!

Andromedafan.com should help a lot!

i don't think so. most people type the name first in the browser. If i am trying to find something then i always guess the domain name first and then search. That is why sites such as http://www.buffy.com are so busy. Also once people have found it it is easier to get back to. Easier to find http://www.talkandromeda.com

than http://www.geocities.com/~username/zone/idnumber/index.html

sort of thing. (not everyone bookmarks, i certainly don't that much and rely on remembering the domain name).

Oh I see ok I guess it is faster for people on limited time that way too.

I tend to use search engines and web ferret to find things Im looking for, but every one is different..:)

Thanks

Guess that explains why they are selling Andromeda domain names on e-bay at the moment I just didnt understand ...LOL

I do what padders does also. If I'm unsure of domains I just type in a word - like andromeda. I'll get sent to http://www.andromeda.com every time. However in this case, I just keep forgetting to put the 'tv' part at the end also so ...

Domain names can be pretty important to people ... ask about Star Wars? ;)

Cheers,

Well my ISP just added alt.tv.andromeda. Apparently Robert Wolf has shown up there and posted in the last two weeks since it's inception. It will be interesting to see.

Don't worry padders, I'll be posting about talkandromeda there as well. ;)

Cheers,

lol. well for the last 3 days we have had 5 new members each day. None posted.. oh well. have their emails :)

Also i will always go for the site with its own domain name in a list of search results. I will almost never ever go to a geocities, tripod or one of those type sites because my experience has been that 99% are rubbish. Domains are so cheap now that if you someone "cares" about their site they are likely to have one.

Of course there are lots of good exceptions, bad sites on domains and good ones at geocities.
