The ever loyal Rygel strikes a deal with Scorpius to gain his freedom. Then, for some reason, returns to Moya with, of all people, Crais, who asks for amnesty. The crew decides the only way to be free of Scorpius is to crash a pod into the Gammek Base, destroying the Aurora Chair. The end of the series has Moya moving away to look for Talyn. D'Argo and Crichton are in the pod, direct it toward the base, and then jump out. It is up to Aeryn in her prowler to rescue them in time.

This one was strange. Reading some of the other Farscape sites kind of put it in perspective. I think this episode was written in a different order than it was edited and shown - it didn't make much sense to me until I watched it a second time.

I think it was like many cliffhangers in series I like watching - I didn't like the uncertainty of what was going to happen to the characters, so it was not one of my favorite epys.

it was a good episode in lots of ways i thought, quite interesting.

The first bit is of course Rygel. Did he actually change a bit through the episode, did he really mean what he said about staying. I have not seen season 2 so that does not help but i wonder if perhaps there is some more goodness in him that needs to be brought out eventually.

What about crais i wonder. Finally accepted that he really has no crawl with John anymore. What are his aims with the leviathan i wonder, renegade but against what. What is actually motiviting him now i wonder.

So firstly a lot of character development for a final episode i thought, quite impressive in that sense.

And then of course what is going to happen. Are they going to be able to get back and rescue everyone? What has happened to D'argo... ekk.. and what about the baby leviathan.. too many questions - i guess the idea for end of season episode!

Crais is really the big question. Peacekeepers clearly don't have any rules of forgiveness after they've been "contaminated" by other life forms. And now Crais has been, too, just as Aeryn has. Even if he has a big grudge against Crighton, it does him no good at all to keep it going, especially since Talyn is Moya's baby. The Peacekeepers are, in effect, his enemy too.

I wonder where they are going with this?

And Rygel? Is he really willing to give up the rulership, and wealth of ruling 600 BILLION "people"? Probably only if he gets a better "deal!" What a stinker!

Yup.. crais is interesting, what is he going to do. I do see him and moya working together, i almost wonder if it might be a joint effort between the two to go back and rescue John, D'argo and Aeryn.. interesting.

Watching it again, I'm hard-pressed to believe that Rygel would do this, to such an extreme.

I totally see Rygel doing this... he's the dominar of self-preservation, after all. ;) Good call on this one, Padders! Crais did have to help save D'Argo and John, although without their knowledge.

I liked Family Ties in spite of the straits it left everyone in: stranded, surrounded, or fleeing. I liked the messages and not just the obvious ones like doing the right thing and showing gratitude. John's right... it's a karma thing. Keep doing what's right, do unto others, and all that. It's works out and keeps things in balance.

Chiana's last meal for everyone was quite touching and very symbolic (especially since JC didn't eat with them), and so was Zhaan's blessing. Neither act was for the recipient alone, but was for all of them. A way to bond, to stay together even though they were about to go their seperate ways. :( A very different picture than the one presented in Fractures.
