Did you know that fate stepped into his life in the form of his wife? Did you know that Carrie ended up in the trash bin because he thought he didn't know enough about high school girls to successfully write this book. If his wife hadn't found the transcript in the trash, pulled it out and read it, egged him on to finish it; we might not be enjoying the books he's written since then.

Cheers,

SK books

Hi, my favourite SK book was IT. The one about the circus clown who wasn't very nice at all. I have seen the screen adaptation of this and wondered what anyone else thought of it. It certainly brings your imagination to life watching it. You think 'ooh yes, I remember that bit'.

Annette.

I love SK......the only thing is every time I read one of his books I don't sleep for like a week :D

i find sk books awesome!it took me but a night to read eyes of the dragon and i've only had needful things one day and im already on pg 200 and something!

i saw part of it and i didnt get to see the end so when i saw the book in the school library the other day i took it out

Thats a shame.

Have you heard Stephen King may be retiring soon from writing?

Nice article Danny. Does that number really say he got $4 million in the 1970s for Carrie paperback rights? I think it should say $400,000. Which was still a lot.

It is quite funny to see from the posts above he announced his retirement in 2002. Although it does appear all his highly regarded books were written in the 70s and 80s.

Sorry Stephen but that is not the most flattering of photos!
Still you should see some of mine, my brother took one when I was outside at my three inch refracting telescope a long time ago, I look like a young and very deranged version of Sir Patrick Moore!!!
