STARGATE SG-1'S MICHAEL SHANKS ON 'ANDROMEDA'
Actor Michael Shanks will make a surprise guest appearance in a future episode
of "Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda," according to Fandom.com. Shanks
is well-known to SG-1 fans as Dr. Daniel Jackson.
Though the full extent of Shanks' role is not currently known, Fandom
indicates that it will likely be an adversarial role to Captain Dylan Hunt
(Kevin Sorbo): "Shanks stands up and confronts Dylan Hunt. The climax of the
scene has Sorbo body slamming Shanks off camera and onto a wall. Rehearsals
are playful, but yet concentrated, as all parties observing watch carefully as
the director communicates how he wants this scene to be choreographed."
The episode, tentatively titled "Star-Crossed" and scheduled to be the new
series' seventeenth, is directed by veteran SG-1 director David Warry-Smith.
"Andromeda" has at least three other things in common with "Stargate SG-1:"
they're both filmed in Vancouver, B.C., and they both share actors Steve Bacic
and Brent Stait. Bacic (SG-1's Major Coburn) plays Captain Hunt's traitorous
Neitzchean first officer in the first episode. Stait (Stargate's Major Louis
Ferretti from "Children of the Gods" and "Within the Serpent's Grasp") plays
series regular Rev Bem on "Andromeda
