I am happy for Robert Picardo but not impressed with the constant bagging about Andromeda's captain when will they understand its not a 'Trek' show

IGN Sci-Fi has unveiled its 2000 Bemmie Awards, naming the top programs, films and celebrities as judged by its team of editors. Star Trek had only one award to its name, and that is for Robert Picardo as best supporting actor. For the award IGN Sci-Fi says, "On a show that has struggled to find its way and maintain a focus, a show saddled with dissension among the actors and extremely uneven writing, Robert Picardo has often been the bright, shining light on Star Trek: Voyager. Far more than comic relief, Picardo at times inbues into his character, the holographic doctor, more warmth and humanity than the rest of the cast combined. Suffice it to say that without the Doctor`s charisma and joy, the bridge of the Voyager would be a far darker place."

In other awards, Buffy and Angel jointly received the award for best series and X-Men the award for best movie. Andromeda is the "series with the most room for improvement," with the judges xplaint that "Kevin Sorbo`s Captain Hunt is a wooden slacker, the show rips off all of its Trek predecessors without shame, and they`ve got to get away from those astoundingly pretentious episode titles."

Yes robert picardo is really great, definitely my favourite character on voyager.

I don't think they are saying Andromeda is a star trek show but just that it "rips it off" ie nothing original to it. Not sure how true it is but i am afraid that i have to agree with the line about kevin sorbo... perhaps they can do an Eearth Final conflict and kill off the main character (p.s. i can hear you all gasping).

The doctor is the best character on the show, IMHO. I thoroughly enjoy all the episodes he's in. His sarcasm leaves me rolling on the floor sometimes. ;)

As for KS, well I'm a fan of his from Herc and all I can say is "He's a LOT better than Shatner."

So I wonder now. If Andromeda wasn't a Gene Roddenberry show would people still be calling it a Trek ripoff? Somehow I don't think so.

Cheers,
