I really wasn't sure how this was going to work out, but I'm finding myself really liking Doggett.

He has his own 'little history' the same as Mulder, too. ;)

I honestly think that this could work.

Cheers,

I think it might work, but for me, I am really missing the Scully/Mulder tension. I wish he would come back as a full player in the series.

John doggett

At first I didn't think anyone could possibly replace Mulner but I now admit how very wrong I was. I think John Doggett is doing a great job. Scully wouldn't be able to carry the series on her own but with Doggett as a new partner things are clicking . I miss Mulner, and hopes he returns, we would then have a "Mod Squad" for the new centry.

You know as I'm watching the episodes, I'm not really thinking Mulder/Scully any longer. I think that the writer's and CC have done an excellent job bringing in the new character, Doggett, and making him a part of the 'team'.

His scepticism doesn't quite reach Scully's when she was first teamed with Mulder, but it's pretty evident even at that. It makes for interesting watching as the shoe is put on the other foot, for Scully and Skinner now. ;)

Cheers,

Hi!

I totally agree with that, I really was waiting to see is the new character
will work. I have to admit that is really an interesting one that makes
one to want to see what happens. The relation between Dogget and Scully, although
different as Mulder/Scully is a good one with its downs and up sides.
I think that the profesionalism of an actor like Patrick is what make
the difference of how well he plays Dogget. I will miss Mulder but I can say
Dogget is ok in my book to make the series continue to be interesting.

I am truly intrigued by Doggett. Scully treats him like dirt half the time, but he keeps coming back for more. he seems to honest in his desire to do the right thing both professionally and personally and she roadblocks him all along the way.

I am really enjoying his character - he seems quite complex. And isn't it appropriate that he would drive a truck!!

You know I have to wonder sometimes about Scully's attitude towards Doggett. I realize that she's had bad experiences with other agents in regards her and Mulder's work in the X-Files, but Doggett seems to be truly interested, if sceptical. And he seems to really be concerned for her.

I think Skinner's accepted him more readily than Scully has.

Cheers,

i've only seen 3 episodes, at first i wasn't too sure if he was going to work out, but now i think it will, j.d is a good actor, and i think his charactor is going to grow, the more we watch, i still miss mulder (what are they doing to him by the way) but i'm starting to like j.d as well...peachy

Maybe the writers create the attitude of Scully against Dogget as a way to hook
us with the new character and get us less attach to Mulder. I'm for sure like
to see what happen, sometimes Scully looks more symphatetic with Dogget.

I am enjoying watching Robert Patrick playing the part of 'John Doggett'. You do look at him and think of Terminator but I think he will become a very good character. Annette.

I've already posted something similar to this in the "Mulder Who?"thread, but I'll say it again. Even though I like Doggett's character and there is lots of scope to look into his history- ex-marines, ex-NYPD, I miss Mulder's witty comments. I think that Doggett and Scully are way too serious (at least in the 3 episodes that I've seen so far). Also, it is odd seeing Scully as the Paranormal expert with Doggett as the skeptic, because she has never had Mulder's knowledge of these matters and she isn't sure herself what she's saying, yet Doggett takes very little convincing. Of course being attacked by an Alien Bounty hunter who can change form, and a human bloodsucking bat, would kind of convince you I expect.

You know even with his initial scepticism, Doggett seems to know more about the X-Files in some cases than Scully does. He read through all the files, now that would take some dedication if you think about it. And in the one episode with the batguy, he's the one who found out about it and prompted Scully to look at it as an X-File investigation.

Actually what I'm finding interesting is being able to see the show and the events through a new set of eyes -- Doggetts. He is a little more serious about things and I'm really kind of glad to see it. I don't think this would have worked out if TPTB would have just made him a Mulder clone. ;)

Cheers,

I agree about not wanting a Mulder clone. I think the way they introduced Doggett and have been building on him is good. Now that I've seen more episodes he is lightening up a bit anyway.

He can still be pretty serious even as the episodes go on, but personally I think that they need to keep him that way. It's part of his charm. :D

Cheers,

Just like to say i'm impressed with Doggett so far :D

He has come in as a strong character, and not a Mulder clone, which as you guys say, wouldnt have worked... I think its good exploring his relationship with Scully, like when she decided to take Mulders name plate off the desk, so she is starting to accept him into the X-Files.

I havent seen any return to the alien conspiracy stuff yet with Doggett, it will be interesting to see how that goes, with Mulder being the driving force previously, and his links to the Cancer man etc..

We get to see a glimpse of the Alien Conspiracy thing with the episodes involving Scully and her pregnancy, but nothing full blown yet. It will be interesting to see how Doggett handles this and whether or not he'll buy into it and if he does, how much.

Cheers,

I like Doggett, after the 1st ep. I just wish that Scully treated him better. Yeah, she's still wary about him but she shouldn't ask him to just blindly trust her either. My fav ep of their relationship is Medusa. They actually seem to trust and care about each other. Doggett's best line was when he was in the tunnel and Scully tells the group to do something:

Man: Says who?
D: Says the boss. *g*

(Not the exact quote. I gotta look at my tape again.)

I just wanted to say that, i think John Doggett is brilliant. I think that he is his own person, with a past life history that makes him the character he is. He fits in so well with the x-files, and i think that Scully will eventually warm to him and him to her...if it's not already happening. In my opinion they make a great team. Mulder had had enough of the show, it was time for the new character and i definitely think we've found him in Agent John Doggett.

starling

I like Mr Doggett too. Think he's pretty kewl.
