Best B5 episode

Babylon 5 is in a class of its own. The entire series was brilliant! So for all the B5 fans out there Which episode is the best?

My favourite was Severed Dreams. Has there ever been a more awe inspiring moment then when Delenn and the Minbari fleet emerged from hypersoace just in time?

Thats a good one, tbh I couldn't pick out an ep as my fave, the whole lot were great. Of couse there were some paticularly in S1 that were a bit weak, but whaddya expect?!
The episode where Sheridan retakes earth sticks out in my mind, but prob cos I saw it just recently again!
I also like the ep that links up with Babylon Squared, where B4 reappears the second time.
(can't remember any ep titles, i'm useless!!)

You guys make me nostalgic for the past. I too loved the show and grieve it absence. Anyone hear any reasonable rumors of further development of the B-5 universe? Or is this one we will simply watch and re-watch to experience the magic?

3rdSpace was interesting, giving us the hope of plent left over Vorlon stuff knocking around. Wasn't *too* impressed by River OF Souls, although I won a copy of the vid from the sci-fi channel My fav is probably In the Beginning, but i'm a sucker for the ol' Mimbari - Sinclair - Valen thing, just one of the deep routed plot lines that held B5 together as a classic work of sci-fi..
As for the developments of the B5 universe, it don't look good after the failure of Crusade which wasn't as bad as some of the sci-fi knocking around these days...

So I guess we will just look back on B5 as a classic, never to be repeated... which is good in some ways, but disappointing in more...

In the Beginning was probably the best film but I`m more of sucker for episodes with loads of explosions and SFX. A Call to Arms was also good.

I agree Crusade sucked! Although Andromeda is even worse, and Lexx is heading down that rather undesirable path, as is Voyager and the Star Trek franchise in general. The new premise for the series sounds about as promising as a guarantee that you`ll win the lottery. Oops wrong forum.[/B][/QUOTE]

Loved thirdspace and A call to arms. Ithink the biggest prob with Crusade was TNT tryin to write the whole damn thing themselves. ( who cares about JMS eh?) A pity as it had great potential.

Have to agree with you about Andromeda. I was watching it last night and I thought do I really care what happens? the answer was no so I watched some Farscape instead.

Do them really need another dismal show in the Star Trek vein. Voyager is getting to be boring and DSN was trying to hard to be B5 but failing miserably.

Well, i'm a little late with this thread, but i just joined
this forumtoday... B5 is by far the best sci-fi show that
was ever made.. a couple of the other scifi shows are good, but will never compare... and yes, Crusade was pretty bad.. if we couldnt have the original charaacters -they are what made the show - then what good was a wanna be?.. aside from which, it was the depth of the characters that gave the show its heart, and crusade had NO depth..
i cant say that i had any favorite ep's, but then again, i never learned the names, thoughh i watch the repeats all the time in the scifi channel!.. the ep where delenn and the m'bari fleet came out just in time was certainly inspiring, and i loved all the ep's leading up to the shadow war and retaking earth were incredible.. certainly put a chill in my heart!... i was really sad that they had to kil off Marcus.. he was my fav... a very complex character..
did i hear someone mention a rumour that they might revisit B5?.. heck, a few more movies would be just fine!!!..

Ah! The good ole days are gone!

While I love the series and have seen many episodes multiple times I don't pay a lot of attention to the titles either, so I can't claim a best episode. The plot line of a repeat that I viewed recently however, was among my favorites, involving questions of rehabilitation of criminals, (an infamous killer has been placed in a religious order based on the station and has no memories of his crimes or former life) and, the victims relatives desire for vengence. I always found B-5s discussion of religion to be about the best I have ever seen in a sci-fi series and this episode, with its sensitive questioning of identity and guilt and vengence was simply wonderful and touching.

While off topic, I am in FULL agreement with the poster above who commented on the abject bankrupt status of the Star Trek series. Voyager seems to be marketed for 14 year olds. The whole Star Trek universe seems to creak and groan with its age. There is potential here, but there is a deep need for some creative rethinking about the direction of this particular take on the future. The world around us has changed radically since the first ideas of Star Trek came across the televisions of the 1960's and the current series seem bound to those worldviews and elements. I watched an episode of original Trek two nights ago and could hardly sit through the dialogue. Yes. It was reasonably innovative for its time. But there is new ground to explore. And the latest Star Trek phenomenon are mostly the original dressed up a bit differently.

For the moment, I'll take FarScape as my sci fi fix of the year. Its quick, quirky and reflective of the pluralistic and post-modern world we all try to find our way through. Lexx is interesting but way too bleak and dismal. FarScape gives you interesting characters and complex moral situations along with a sense of hope for the good guys.

End of commercial! Its good to be able to talk with other sci-fi fans.

I also meant to comment on Crusade, which I did not view as negatively as many of you. I actually thought the episodes were beginning to improve toward the end of the run. I later learned that the network had broadcast the majority of the episodes OUT OF SEQUENCE and so the continuity of the series was shot from the word go. No wonder I couldn't make any sense of most of it. I still wish it had continued since it seemed to carry a modicum of promise. I actually wrote a letter to the Sci Fi network hoping they might pick it up and develop the series. And that's something I rarely do unless I truly believe in a show's potential. (I would never be writing to defend any Star Trek series.)

I thought Crusade was V promising. The Fact that they were shown out of sequence was a bit screwy. But it was all down to those ******** at network headquarters. I did here that JMS had some good news for B5 fans but I haven't heard what it is yet. Any ideas anyone?

I have to admit, i gave up on Crusade about halfway through... it was just too... not for me.. so how did it end?.. did they ever find a cure for earth?.. or all we all going to die from the Drakh plague?..
I agree that the way B5 handled religion was very innovative... there was that one ep., when lord Reefer was killed by G'Kar's people on Narn, when Reefer thought he was kidnapping G'Kar,.. that was one of the religious ep's, and they had all that great singing... i still love to watch that ep.. its the only "religious stuff" i can handle..
One of the things that B5 made me understand was the way humans form such communities (as compared to most other animals/aliens?) and the way different groups of people come together to form these communities, with (ideally) little or no prejudice (ok, i'm being a bit idealistic here, but in some places its true!).. i really do believe that that is one of the things that gives/gave humanity its strength..

i think farscape is great, but i dont watch it often enough.. the plot lines are sometimes a little convoluted, especially for someone who doesnt watch it weekly.. right now i'm an official stargate addict!

They didn't actualy find a cure, the 'last' episode that was made had Dr Frankin as a guest star, and they made some kind of breakthrough towards that goal...i think (it was a long while ago and it was shown at about 2am, so the memorys bit patchy)

B-5 Happenings and JMS

Hello all. I'm probably new to a bunch of you unless you visit the Stargate forums. My name is Rowan and I'm not the mod for the Babylon-5 forums. Been a B-5 since the beginning [no pun intended] and am very glad to see the Sci-Fi channel finially give it a home.

FYI: TNT/WB {?} will begin releasing B-5 on DVD [in the US/Canada] starying in May. Also JMS 'hinted' very storngly on a post to his e-mail forum of some 'pretty big things' in the works. As I hear more, I'll bring the info here.

And as I may not have mentioned over here on this thread, the Sci-Fi channel is picking up "Crusade" in the near future. So... here's to getting used to the fact I really need to re-read my posts for clarity and get used to a spell checker on-line. :}
