Stargate 2 Movie

I have picked up a bit of interesting news, you may or may not know this but Stargate is to hit the big screen once again.
According to Variety, MGM wants to make another big screen version of Stargate,
The flick is reportedly on the fast track for a 2002 release.
MGM seems to be hot on the TV-to-big-screen concept.
It also has plans to develop the anthology series The Outer Limits into a movie franchise.

Unfortunately it didn't say anymore than I have posted, but I will keep my ears to the ground for the latest developments. As far as actors go I would like to think MGM would keep the current cast. What does everyone else think?

They should have everyone from the show except for Jackson who should once again be played by James Spader...I think Richard Dean Anderson is sooo much better than Kurt Russel He pulls lines off so well^_~ Ya Think? I have been using "Oh For Cryin Out Loud" all month long...hee^_^

I really think that they should keep the actors from the show. RDA and MS have really brought the characters to evolve into a new level from the first movie.
Also, I have a question for Nariko Fanel, are the two characters at the bottom of your message Joe and Matt for Digimon?

Okay, this comes straight from the mouth of Don S. Davis who talked at the SG-1 Con I went to one the weekend in Australia.

Don, Teryl and Peter Williams were asked if there was going to be a 2nd Stargate movie. They said that they had heard rumour about it but NONE of them had been approached to acctually be in it. They also said that they had heard that maybe the cast from the 1st movie was going to be in it and not the SG-1 cast. Peter Williams was especially angry about this (even though nothing has been confirmed) and he said that he thinks a movie without the SG-1 cast in it would take away support for the show. He asked everyone at the con to write emails to MGM and tell them that we want the SG-1 cast to star in the next movie.

This is interesting, however the 3 stars made it PERFECTLY clear that these were their own opinions and speculation and that nothing has been definetly told to them about it. They seemed fairly confident that the SG-1 cast would be in the movie because it just dosn't make sence putting the old cast in it when the show is so popular. Also they said a movie seems a long way down the track, probably after filming Season 5.

Any cast but the TV series cast would just be brainless.. THe original movie cast got the whole thing going, but now Stargate is what it is because of the actors that are playing the roles now.. THEY have breathed life into the show..

the t.v cast is what has made stargate the sucess it is today, they have made the charactor's there own, especially
M.S we have seen daniel grow so much over the series, he has
become so much stronger, not the geek he was in the beginning. as much as i liked J.S he's just not the daniel we have all come to love (drool) and in mho K.R couldn't hold a candle to R.D.A. R.D.A's potrayal of jack is so much better, he's definatly made the part his own.
i've just 1 worry about the film though, if they start making films, they wont have time to keep making the series
as well. so i guess it would be one or the other...peachy
