An interview with Robert Sheckley

That was interesting - and unsettling. I've always suspected that the most effective humour is usually informed by a rather grim outlook, and Sheckley certainly seems to fall into that category.

This reminds of another older SF writer I have recently discovered and come to admire - Barry N Malzberg. His works are incredibly dark, but have a black humour to them as well. Not laugh-out-loud stuff, but very effective...and also disturbing. Malzberg, too, has virtually ceased writing much SF anymore.
