Hi, NITF,

Glad you posted. I don't know the answer to you quiery but I do know the show tries to keep up with the latest equipment in the armed forces. The new guns they carry are the example. There was a fight about using the new ones as they don't photograph so well as the older ones.
I agree they are much nicer looking and seem more practical for seeing.... thank you for the picture!

Our forum has lots to see and do so while you came back and check for someone to have another answer please feel free to browse and post as you have been but we do need SPOILER SPACE for outside Season 4 post, we don't flame and we keep our posts 'g' rated as there are children here.

The top of the page has the other universes you can visit for a click of a mouse. We also have a lot of Stargate goodies to see and participate in. So look around post (you might be surprised to find what follows you ~a small alien) and enjoy yourself!
 
New Rifles

I assume you are referring to the bull pup Micro Tavor assault rifle...

I didn't like the change either, while the larger .223 caliber may pay off in the wooded areas with the better penetration and range over the 9mm, the new rifle/ammunition combo is about 1 lb. heavier.

I would prefer the MP5 when in close quarters but I would lean more towards an M16 Carbine/M4 type in the wooded and open areas.

Plus I think the Tavor is just a butt ugly rifle...lol

The new rifle that the Army is using is causing a simple little problem for the guys. I think it's the M4. While Vet was out at NTC, it cropped up. The M-16's carrying handle was molded right onto the rifle. On the M4 it detatches so you can put a night scope in its place. Unfortunately, the screws that hold the handle in place have a tendancy to wiggle out and the handle pops off. If you aren't paying attention, it gets lost and guess who has to pay the $300 for it?

and can u tell I was paranoid bout losin em???
