Bid on Xena`s Chakram...quickly!
Date: 1/23/01
The Sword and Staff online charity auction that ended last weekend raised a magnificent $4,110 for a number of charities. The extremely wonderful, personally signed Lucy Lawless photo went for a staggering $1,500! This organisation has helped raise nearly $200,000 over the years, including supporting UK, Australian, Dutch, US and Canadian Xenafests by dontaing items for charity auctions, and co-ordinating fans fund raising. Sword and Staff has gone from merely tracking donations made by Xena fans to actively organizing and participating in Xena fan activities focused around raising money for charitable organizations. Do pay a visit to the Sword and Staff site and see what Xena fans have done for the Greater Good over the past few years...makes you proud to be a fan!
The recent UK Brighton Xenafest went off well, and despite only a fairly small group of people, raised £303.40 for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC).
Finally, the rather fabulous Chakram being auctioned for charity on Fandom Auctions has less that TWO days left, so those of you with over $5,000 burning a hole in your pocket should get spending! If only those lottery numbers had come up....
