Well ia m bringing this thread back on track

"Series V," on the other hand, he remarks, "is truly where my heart is right now, where my blood and toil have been. We're in pretty much full-gear. We are in prep on it. Brannon and I wrote the script. We've gotten a tremendous amount of positive reinforcement from everyone at Paramount who has read it. It's not exactly certain where it's going to end up, but it will most likely be UPN. We are in full pre-production. We've been working with Herman Zimmerman on both interior and exterior designs. In fact, I believe we will be hammering the first nails within the next few weeks on a stage that's currently being used for Vanilla Sky, a movie with Tom Cruise. We're starting to hire people. The casting process will be starting pretty soon. And I believe we will begin our two-hour premiere sometime in May."

And what about the effect of the increasingly expected writers and actor's strikes? "We'll certainly get the premiere done before the strike. We'll possibly get the premiere and one one-hour episode in before the strike. As far as what happens after that, we'll see. The way to look at it is if there's a strike, we'll have a premiere and possibly another episode that will be cut and finished and ready to air."

RE: Neo

Ow dear..... David will be not happy with me.... SORRY David... was unintentional

I really don't mind.

If I hadn't seen it first I would have been glad you posted it.

The full interview is going to be in "Star Trek Monthly" MAY 2001. I buy that anyway, but that issue won't be on sale until mid-April.

RE: Neo

As David recommended, check out the ST mag website to see if it's something you'd be interested in.

The website thread would be great in "general discussions". Wonder if it can be moved?

Would be better if it was... but David gave some good sites ... spent ages searching around

Star Trek: Series V: Its been rumour, but now Canadian TV Guide reports Scott Bakula is a lock for the role of the Captain.

This is as reported on 'Dark Horizons'.

Thats been a rumour for ages but if its now becoing an official report in a magazine... well looks like we are getting more real info out now....

RE: Scott Bakula on ST: 5

Does anyone have any opinions on this?

Is it a good or bad casting idea?

I think I might have seen a few episodes of Quantum Leap, but don't really remember enough to have an opinion.

Quantum Leap is OK. My Mum used to watch it. It was more 'human interest' than Sci-Fi. Obviously, the time travel bit makes it Sci-Fi, but there were few aliens, etc. and the events were usually documented historically or about family relationships.

Scott Bakula is a good actor- they only thing would be his age, as Markpud questioned.

Brannon Braga speaks.

Speaking of Series V, Brannon Braga told the Sci-Fi Wire that details of the show would be announced within the next few weeks. "All that I can tell you on the record is that Rick Berman and I have written a pilot, and we're gearing up to make the pilot," he said. "But in terms of the dates and in terms of when the show would premiere and where it will be, I don't know. I don't really know at this point. It depends on a lot of variables. The [impending writers' and actors' union] strikes, definitely--if there are two strikes, that's going to have a huge effect."

Braga did say that he was "reading the Internet rumours, with some amusement, just like everybody else." The level of detail in some of the rumours managed to amaze him. "But this is nothing new for Star Trek, you know? I remember the day after we wrote the movie First Contact. A day later, the whole story was on the Internet. I don't know how it gets out. And initially, you're kind of upset when it does. But then you realize, 'Thank God people are interested enough to go to those lengths.' It's publicity. And better obsessive interest than no interest at all."

Re: Scott Bakula. latest update.

According to the Canadian TV Guide, Scott Bakula has actually signed on for the role.

On page 34 of the April 7 - April 13 issue of the magazine, the 'Update' column by Greg David has a short blurb about Bakula, under the 'SIGNED' subheading. "Scott Bakula (Quantum Leap) will be at the helm of the upcoming Star Trek TV series," is all the blurb says, with no further info or photos included, and no source credited.

Of course, it could be that TV Guide is simply repeating the rumours that appeared on the internet two weeks ago - with magazine lead times, that would certainly be a possibility. However, this is the first time that it has been stated anywhere that Bakula actually signed on for the series, as the original reports merely said Bakula was negotiating for the role.

Meanwhile, Project Quantum Leap has posted a bit more news about Scott Bakula. The site recently spoke with its contact in Hollywood, who did not confirm or deny the rumours that Bakula was in talks for Series V.

The site was able to confirm another upcoming project for the actor. Bakula will star in a movie for the Showtime cable network, with his Bakula Productions company producing and Lee Rose directing. No information is yet available about plot or casting.

46-year old Bakula still has a large fanbase from his role as Doctor Sam Beckett on the 'Quantum Leap' time-travel series, a role that landed him four Emmy nominations, a Golden Globe award and no less than four consecutive Viewers for Quality Television Awards.
