Stargate Spin off series?

Hi, i am new.

Now, recently a friend of mine informed me that Stargate was finishing soon and a spin off series will begin. First, is my friend lying completely?
Second, if there were to be a spinoff series, how would it work?
its not exactly Star Trek is it?

Hmm, 'Stargate SG-1'is a spin-off series in itself, how on Earth how would a spin-off from that work?
BTW, can you actually call the various Trek series spin-offs? I mean, aren't most of them totally different form the rest? (Apart from the original plot, I mean)

well...they could do a series about the tok'ra...or if sg ends it could end with sg-1 abandoning earth and striking out on their own...

Maybe your friend heard about the film, and got confused or something. A spin off would b kewl, but seeing as theres already rumours about SG finishing after S5, then I don't know how they'd do a spin off. They'd have to move pretty quick...
Not that I don't want them to, as long as PW is in it! Or JR would suffice...
