A few months ago i read Journey to the Center of the Earth. while doing some looking around I found a text that says most tranlations of his works are poor. then they say something about a Giant Sheapard in the book. something that was missing from my version. what can you people reconmend.

Giant Sheapard ? i never read anything about that in the book. of course i've never read the unabridged version. oh! maybe it was the giant humanoid they came across, in he place with the giant ferns and stuff. he was herding mammoths like sheep i guess

The giant shepherd would be the Icelandic Eider Hunter, Hans.

Can't say I read anything about Mammoths in the unabridged edition though, which was largely devoid of creatures, except when they went to sea. Rank added creatures for their film version.

Has anyone read his Novel Paris in the 20th Century ? It was lost until 1989 when the manuscript was found in a safe Vernes Publisher rejected the book as too far fetched. Some of his prediction there were guide impressive. :)
