Season 1 Stargate box set from amazon.com?

hi there


Iam in the UK and looking to order the season1 DVD box set from amazon(USA)and wondered if anyone could help me to answer the following questions :-

1)how reliable is there overseas mail(will it arrive,has anyone in the UK or Europe had any problems with them?)

2)what is the situation with customs(will i get another bill from customs for £20 or what ever, when my package arives?)

Overseas mail works fine, no problems.

Customs. You might be lucky you might not. It really depends. Also depends on how the people you send it to mark the package. I would say there is a 1/3 change of getting caught on a package like that and it will be 17.5% + a couple of pounds surchage that you have to pay which is a considerable amount.

My suggestion,

order it from www.play247.com they import DVD region 1 from the US but then ship them from jursey (tax free). Postage is free, you pay no tax to get it and their prices "rule". They, amazon.co.uk and dvdstreet are the main place i get my dvds from.

Otherwise i used www.video-now.com from the states. Was fine but never got more than 2 dvds in one package so customs proably let that pass (below £25 i think is ok).

hope that helps. Play247 don't list the stargate season 1 boxset yet an no idea when they will. Got season 3 which i just ordered in region 2

just to say that I've never had any customs problems with DVDs coming over from the states (now thats temping fate )

can anyone confirm the details of this box set? Amazon describe it as a "gift set" but I'd like to know exactly what's on it.. as I already have the DVD "best of S1" (Region 2) I only want this one if it is "all" of S1...

thanx for that.. I got a bit worried by the reviewer comment on the amazon site which implies it is best of s1 and s2, rather than all of S1 heres the review:

These are the first and secong season episodes from the Stargate series. Anyone would could appreciate being a proud owner of this DVD set. You would get to know the cast and crew imtimately from the Behind-the-Scenes special, know the layout of the SGC better from when they take you around, and find out why everyone gets along on the show so well(Hint: they are like a family).

This set is truely a plus, especially since the sound and quality are A+.

Now I'll just have to get rid of my R2 best of S1 DVD

okay so what's the verdict??? is the dvd set on amazon all of season 1 or is a best of s1 and s2??? is it the same set they are selling on the sg1mgm site?? cause its seems alot cheaper on amazon??? :hjbigeyes
