Unlike jurassic park this was a mess. They destroyed the story written by michael crichton, which was brilliant, and made the most appaling, cliched, factually incorrect and pretty much boring film out of it. A big shame me thinks.

i agree, the acting was totally shot and that made the story line unbelievable. i liked the book much better. michael chricton is an excellent writer. hey padders, do you have a thread for him in the book section?

i totally agree, this film was a mess. It should never have made the production stage

i don't think he was in our c listing. Someone definitely to add!

There are some excellent Michael Crichton books - My favourite is 'Timeline'. But there are also some good films 'Andromeda strain','Congo','Terminal man','Rising Sun','Disclosure'.

I've actually only just watched 'The Lost World' for the first time and I have to agree that it isn't very good. I haven't read the book either though. The only thing going forthe film was that it is better than 'Jurassic Park III' which I have seen.

Does the the book explain the stowing away of Ian Malcolm's daughter any better?

He wanted her to stay with friends, but he never bothered to check she had gone to them, and I would guess that when she disappeared he didn't care.

Thanks Georgio, that makes a lot of sense, cause Crichton would have written something more believable.

Attenborough and Goldblum have been in better films ;)

The book also has some other characters.
It's not about the nephew of Hammond, but about Lewis Dodgson ( the one from the first book and film ) who wants to steal eggs on Isla Sorna.
