5th & 6th Alien Films?

I would like a real Alien 3 to be made, "Alien 3: The Do Over". Let's forget that 3 and 4 happened, and jump in twenty years after Ripley, Newt and co made it back.

They could play pretty much their own age, the Newt character would be late twenties, and could take a big role.

Get Cameron/Scott to direct it, and let's see what we've all wanted, Aliens swarming Earth.

Huge box office.

How can you say that? Alien 3 was the best acted movie in the franchise by far, not to mention the fact that the opening sequences on Fury were filmed in my home town :D.
But anyway, haven't you read Earth Hive? That's pretty much the plot. They just changed the names and Ripley died off. Hicks and Newt are there though. Someone's probably already said this but - Alien : Earth Hive was written before the 3rd Alien existed, and while it was a better concept than the 3rd movie, the film rocked. It lacked action, sure, but it rivalled the 1st in suspense and bested it as far as acting and cinematography are concerned (bear in mind that I'm talking about the special edition Directors Cut, not the horribly bare theatrical version - I know it's only half hour or so but damn..)

So yeah. That's that. I feel passionately about this. ;)

So the conclusion is?
Have we worn Alien out?
Would people go see another alien movie?
Maybe we could have an Alien vs Riddick
Personally I have had enough. I saw only the first and second Alien movies, then I had had enough, I did come back to see Alien vs Predator but I don't think I could handle a no 2 of that. I think its time to put it to bed well at least for a good 20 years or so....

NO! That can't be the conclusion. Regardless of how much of a dissapointment both Alien: Ressurection and AvP were, the essential soul of the franchise is still one of the most developed and enjoyable in film so far. If it was a building, it would be listed!
It has a massive following (some of whom didn't think much of AvP, but tolerated it as a spin-off) and there's no doubt in my mind that a 5th installment of the original story would bring herds to the big screen. Guaranteed. And if the rumours pay off and it's a Cameron/Ripley collaberation I think it's a safe bet that those herds would feel that justice had been done.
