I think Duncan is a more "good" guy than Conner, and his strong sense of morality/chivalry is a common thread in the series... Conner has more of an edge, he'll do what's needed to get done what needs doing...

Actually, they're kind of like two separate sides of the same coin... specifically as far as The Game was concerned...
