In this the finale episode of TNG Jean-Luc Picard is moving uncontrollably between past, present and the future of his own life... trying to prevent the destruction of humanity...

What do people think bout ths episode.. How it worked or did not ??

I was disappointed that TNG ended when it did. I wish it could have gone on a few more years, at least. I think that the later seasons were really classic TV---the writing, the acting (especially Patrick Stewart), the sets, the special effects, etc. I think the crew really made a good group.

In my opinion, All Good Things Pts. 1 & 2 was a great episode and an appropriate way of wrapping up the series. I liked how it kind of mirrored the first episode ("Q" testing humanity), without negating all the crew had been through together.

Time-travel/multiple timeline stories can be frustrating sometimes, because they introduce inconsistencies or are not treated correctly, from a purely scientific view. The writers probably wanted to use it to tie up some loose ends, showing us what happened eventually to the crew. I could have done without the scenes where Picard was feeble and semi-addled! I didn't enjoy seeing him that way!

I haven't seen this particular episode in some time. I have it on tape, and should pop it in and watch it again!

I think I've only seen this once. It was a good way to end, in that we went back and saw the Enterprise and crew right through the series. But I would have rather not ended in a story that, because in was a different timeline, never really happened at all.

Thanks guys...

I loved the episode as it brought back Q and went back in time and we saw Picard and his crew in the early days..

The final Shot of the crew playing poker and picard coming in and saying he should have done this along time ago........... Class

Poker Game.

That was undoubtably the best part, since he had never joined in the Poker games before.
I wonder if the creators had deliberately done that so they could use it at the end, or if they just had a flash of inspiration while making it.

I will tell you what wether it was deliberate or a mistake it was a good piece of writing.... I was nearly in tears at that point....

Also knowing that we would have to wait months before we saw DS9.... those were hard few months....

Also ( i just thought of this) Q had to be in it as he was the first alien species they came accross... Q has always been a thorn in Picards side...

And if i remember Q did say right at the beginning that the Q continium would be watching them... Great way of ending it by going back to the beginning...

I loved this episode.....I think it was a great way to finish the series..unfortunate though it was at the time...I wanted it to go on for at least another season...but looking back, it was great..plus I love the Q-Picard thing..great fun

heehee...at least the "real" timeline survived.

Sometimes the multiple-timeline stories are just not credible, but I think the writing on this one was good. It kind of summarized the whole series in two hours without being one of those boring look-back shows.

It was funny how Data kept being impressed with Picard's ideas/solutions/theories, but they were in fact his own, brought by Picard from the other timelines.

And I agree------the poker scene was touching!!

Well that to me is one of my fav episodes... one that i keep watching over an over......

it was a great episode, and a great way of ending the show. Lots of nice touches, like the poker, Tasha, etc.. the best last episode to any of the series... TOS just kinda ended, DS9 was a good ending but not brilliant...waiting for Voys now...

well it is like the name of the show says
all good things..............

they must come to an end all you gotta do is look for the message
but one episode did get on my nerves a bit
that one where they kept on repeating things over and over and over and over and over and over again

i know i have said it but this is my all time fav episode... was just great

All Good Things was certainly an appropriate title, I guess the producers knew that we wouldn't want it to end, but I don't suppose they had any choice - after all, they aren't the ones paying the bills! ;)

As for the episode itself, I never wanted it to end, as the storyline was well thought out and very absorbing - the constant frustrations that Picard had, while trying to convince everyone he wasn't insane, were portrayed brilliantly by Stewart and the puzzle he had to solve in order to save the day was inspired. :)

Anyway, I'm getting carried away here, but this was probably the best Trek ending ever! :)

concerning the picture of the defiant:
i cant remember y i put it in sorry

It was great except for one huge mistake:

Picard, being taken to the future by Q, discover an anomaly - not knowing what in the world it is. Then Picard gets to see it even bigger in the middle timeline (normal for us). Then Q takes him to the past and it's huge (threatening Human evolution). Then we go forward to the future - the Enterprise leaves anomaly (for reason I can't remember), then goes back to anomaly (for reason I can't remember) to find it even bigger. If it was growing bigger from the future to the past, then when the Enterprise went back to it (even farther into the future), it should have disappeared - or at least smaller. Instead, it was noticeably bigger.

It's hard to get these time travel eps void of contradictions.
