Seeing that the sci-fi channel is repeating Babylon 5 yet again, i was wondering how many times have you all seen the show?. i continue to watch it, to the point that i practically know the dialogue by heart!...i actually didnt watch it much when it first aired, as the networks were inconsistent about the time frame, and it was confusing if you missed a week, but when it started to repeat, i was hooked... (line and sinker!!!)..

So WHY do we continue to watch it?.. is it the action? the drama? the romance? the uncertainty of the future? the certainty of the future?.. the story lines? or the whole story arc in general?.. or..???

Inquiring minds want to know!

I watched it about three times in a row when Sci-fi kept showing it again and again.

I missed the middle ones coz it was on at 6pm which is just rediculous  Anyhoo, I love it and there are still certain ones I will watch when I see they are on.

Aaah, but WHY do you love it?.. what has kept you coming back, for 3 repeats, and then some???

I've watched them numerous times. Any chance I can get.

As to why? I think there are a number of reasons. The depth of the characters. They way we see them develop and grow.

The arc and the way the story develops and grows. How even episodes you didn't think originally fell in the arc still contained elements important to it.

I could probably go on and on. The thing with Babylon 5 you never knew for sure where he would take you next, you couldn't say well that is a main character he won't kill him off because he might. And if they killed off a character it was for a reason that made sense to the story.

So I think we watch it for a combination of features: the arc, the characters, the story, the drama. Some watch it for one reason more than the other. But without them all who would really care.

Ive seen the episodes hundreds of times....Probebly because I got so sick of the network here in Australia postponing eps due to Tennis (5-6 weeks),Crickit...Ditto, Golf...Ditto.
One ep. between them.So I went out and bought the whole series on video.
The reason why I liked B5 so much was because it was a story...Not just a lot of mini stories joining together with partial references to each other....Hell,B5 Is the only show I know that makes a reference that doesnt get cleared up til 5 years down the track...Now thats planning.

enough times to have the episodes etched in my brain and still enjoy it! :smilej:

I've only seen the series once, but there are a few episodes that I missed. So far it hasn't been repeated here in New Zealand, and I can't understand why - mind you, they are only just repeating TNG for the first time, so maybe B5 isn't too far away. :)

Why ...

I continue to watch it becasue I learn about the writer's craft from it. JMS has spoiled me and taught me so in this one show that it's almost impossible to just 'watch' something without looking for second and third layers, multiple arcs, all sorts of wonderful stuff.

Of course the facts that the characters come to life as you watch and you can see the entire creation spring to life as you watch hasn't hurt at all either.

Rowan <when I grow up, I want to write a least half as good as "The Great Maker" ... :p

Babylon 5

Probably for the same reason I watched Star Trek TOS series till I had it memorized too! It was a great show and I loved it!! :alienooh:

I have seen B5 three times and will always continue to watch the show until SFC takes it off the air.

I have seen the full run once and then just catch various episodes on TV when I can. Are we including the films in this? Because if we are I have watched all of them atleast once, with "In the begining" on it's fourth viewing :D.

i watch B5 as often as i can, i love the action the story line, how every thing ties together, tis just a very well written show:rolly2:

How many times...

The entire series? Probably 5 or 6 times at least, but in bits and pieces as I seem to miss it now and then.

I keep watching becasue it facinates me: I always find something I didn't see before, hear something I didn't hear. The show is layers upon layers of 'being' just waiting to be unwrapped.

And yes, JMS *is* 'the Great Maker' in my book of writers. :D

Rowan <happy with her S1 DVD's and eagerly waiting for S2 to come out...

I wish the sci fi channel down here would repeat it again.

I too have watched B5 all the way thru at least 3 times and then they came out with crusade which aired just once and never came back. I wanna know if capt gidion (gary coleman) and the crew of the excalibur saved the day.

Then after none of them aired anymore I started watching jeremiah.

Just call me a JMS junkie

LOL!

Nothing wrong with being a JMS junkie. I am an Acolyte of The Great Maker myself.

Now, if JMS would just tell us more of what his next plans are...
