It's been quite an interesting day for Matrix news! We've been following a story that developed this morning on the Ain't It Cool News website. A letter surfaced there purportedly from a San Francisco based casting agency by the name of Beau Bonneau Casting. They're reportedly seeking individuals that might be interested in appearing the Matrix sequels. Here's a brief excerpt from the letter:
"We will be casting Matrix 2 & 3 that will begin shooting in late March. This is a Warner Bros. Feature film starring Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne and directed by the Wachowski Brothers. The Directors, Producers and Assistant Directors are excited about our database and will be looking at photos and resumes on-line. They will have the photos/headshots and resumes at their fingertips 24 hours a day."
It seems that the Wachowskis committed to working with these guys and reviewing their available talent. If you're a fan living in the San Francisco area, head on over there!
Agent Smith, portrayed by Hugo Weaving.
So what do you need to do to be considered for a part or a role as an extra? You have to be in the San Francisco area and you have to visit the Beau Bonneau offices to register. Registration entails having a digital headshot taken, and entering your information into their computers. For more information you can visit their website at SFCasting.com. We did and found just a bit more that isn't mentioned in their message. It seems that they're seeking photo doubles for Agent Smith, and I quote:
We are currently seeking photo doubles for Agent Smith. We need individuals whose features and sizes resemble this character;
Sizes are as follows:
Height : 6'-6'2"
Coat: 40- 42
Waist: 32-34
Shoe: 10.5-12
If you look like Agent Smith or know of someone who does please call 415-777-1114 immediately.
Do you know anyone that fits the bill? Better give them a shout!
Curiously their letter mentions that registration hours will be extended beginning Monday, February 29th...a date that doesn't actually exist. This is possibly a simple typo that was intended to be Monday, February 19th. If you plan on stopping by their offices, we suggest observing the new hours for registration which are listed as Monday through Friday from Noon to 6:00 pm. We attempted to reach Beau Bonneau Casting for confirmation and to get the full lowdown on all of this, but as of this writing they've been unavailable for comment.
The letter goes on to instruct individuals that might be interested in being an extra on the Matrix to call the Beau Bonneau casting hotline at 415-346-CAST.
In other news, Coming Attractions has a report concerning the release date of Matrix 2. We've always heard that June 2002 was the most probable release date for the film, but now that Warner Bros. is planning on releasing Scooby-Doo in mid-June of next year who knows what will happen. Scooby is expected to be a big draw and with Warners placing them right in the middle of the month, would they be willing to put such a high-profile project in direct competition with the first Matrix sequel? It's not unheard of for a studio to release two major films in such a short length of time, but why risk shooting yourselves in the foot? However, CA's sources say the film is still set for a June '02 release, as the studio brass are smartly reluctant to move the film back to May, a month which will be dominated by Spider-Man and a little film called Star Wars: Episode II.
